That's it mate. Julio Cesar Luis Gustavo ( who actually wants out of Bayern and didn't play during the audi cup, 14 mil pounds!) Douglas/Naldo World beaters, might as well just ship all the trophies to Liverpool!
Lucas & Gustavo in midfield would be the least Brazilian midfield ever, despite them both being Brazilian. If that makes sense.
Costa can play across the front line. I think he's more of a striker but he was shifted out wide last season because of Falcao - he still delivered though. In addition, his conversion rate is 20% which is higher is pretty healthy considering Suarez's is around 12-13%. The most encouraging news is that he is not a replacement for Suarez.
Would be interesting if we managed to sign Diego Costa considering A.Madrid have just got back into the CL
Sky now running with this story too. It must have some legs with the echo, guardian, beeb and sky all running with it. Surely?
It will be difficult to entice him but the players himself has said that we would love to play in the PL. Still a tall order though ...
A lot of money for somebody who only scored 10 goals last season? Or does he offer more around the pitch than just scoring goals?
Scored 10 goals from a wide position combined with his assists as well makes him a good all round player.
10 in 31 league games, 20 in all competitions (44) If you concentrate on the 10 in 31 then I'll counter it by saying he got 10 in 13 in all other competitions Still a lot of money for that return mind. Edit: also worth noting that he wasn't their main forward, Falcoa was!
Went on an Atleti forum yesterday and they consider him one of their most important players so whatever the price he can't be that bad.
I have been browsing their fan sites too. Consensus is that they'd be annoyed if he left but that 25mil euros is more than fair. Can't help but think we're overpaying, guess everyone is this window. The important thing is Costa would be an improvement for our first 11 and thats what counts
Yep I had a look around a few of the A Madrid forums yesterday, they want him to stay. He was voted fans player of the year last season.
That season we had Suarez banned for 8 games and Lucas out for half and Gerrard out for most. And the season we finished 8th? Good point!
Yeah €25m is a lot for him - the fact that we've gone straight to his minimum fee thus eliminating the whole negotiation process shows you that we're very keen (or desperate) to get a big player to come in. Not long left until the season starts so I'm guessing Rodgers just wants the guy in ASAP!
We should also remember the opinions of Inter fans when Coutinho left. The fans opinions are quite valuable and provide an insight into what we could be potentially getting - encouraging to know that At Madrid fans do rate him as a key player.
