    Goodwood 3.05

    Brendan Bracken 12/1

Ger Lyons had it right off at the start of the week with this horse who's a long way ahead of the handicapper. He's now rated 117 in Ireland but runs off 107 tomorrow. If you count the claim he runs off 102. Whether he's travelled over well and come out of the race the other day is a risk I'm happy to take when 12/1 is available.

    Few that i like tomorrow.

Aiken - Has a touch of class about him Grade 2 winner who will relish the conditions.
Wenworth(NAP) - Jim Delahunt(Scottish Footy Pundit & Scottish Sun racing columnist) has tipped this as a very confident selection. He has ties with the Hannon yard and has picked many of winners from the stable and they seem to fancy him tomorrow. & a saver on Brendan Brackan - cheers champ
Smoothtalkinrascal - 1 of the most consistent top handicap Sprinters this season, been unlucky on a few occasions in running. Likes a bit of cut in the ground and also very interesting that the owners run the top weight in this whereas he is down at the bottom.
Pavlosk(NB) - Has run 3 races with 2 wins with the 3rd race being the Coronation Stakes. Sights back down to group 3 level she looks to a great chance in this.

One bet for me tomorrow and im awaitng the last but will be good enough!

    17.25 Goodwood- Goodwood Mirage 5/1

Am a huge fan of this horse is a fairly lightly raced 3yo but imo is the most unexposed horse on the course tomorrow. His run lto was a hot handicap with only 3 beating him- the likes of Maputo, Red Avenger & Takhiri all who have run with credible runs since. In the same race my selectiom beat Sea Shanty , Spaceship & One Peak all talented handicappers on there day. Has been stepped up in trip for tomorrows race but that will be no problem his last few races he has been staying on extremely well and has looked like he has needed the step up. With the ground as it is (on the fast side) he speed will exploit the slower ones in the field, with Frankie on board and his owners wanting him to win (again) on his home course I am extremely confident for tomorrow BRING IT ON!!!

This one may make me look a proper mug tomorrow but nothing new there. DOUBLE CZECH 25-1 4.15 Goodwood has looked very green thus far and not been given a particularly hard time. The cheekpieces are on tomorrow and Franny Norton steps up to give maximum encouragement we hope. He is a nicely bred colt and I hope to see him show a good deal of improvement tomorrow.

Struggling for winners at Goodwood as always, nothing glorious about this meeting and tomorrow looks the hardest day so far by some way.

Cape Peron obviously for me, I think he is a Group horse but the ground drying out has went against him, I just cant ignore him from towards the bottom of the handicap and hopefully Candy lets him take his chance. This looks deeper than it actually is, the only horse in here that has anywhere near the potential of Cape Peron is Wentworth and if both get decent trips id like to see them fighting it out, but thats probably unlikely in a field like this at Goodwood.

    1.55 Masterstroke 5/2
    2.30 Tawhid 5/1
    3.05 Cape Peron 17/2 NAP
    4.15 Baytown Kestrel 33/1 e/w
    4.50 Shuruq 12/1

    4.15 Goodwood

    Yorkshire Relish 10/1

You've got to hope that stall 19 will be the right side or won't be an inconvenience and if that isn't a factor and if suited by the course I think Kevin Ryan's Yorkshire Relish is in line to run a big race on handicap debut off a mark of 80. Having made an encouraging debut over 6f at Newcastle at the start of June when beaten a little over 2L in 4th (turned out to be a very poor maiden), Yorkshire Relish clearly put that experience to great use when very well backked to land a valuable seller (nearly 8k for winner) in good style by nearly 3L later that month in a race that isn't bad form. Always just off the pace, Yorkshire Relish travelled comfortably for the most part and when driven by Philip Makin inside of the couple of furlongs Yorkshire Relish drew clear inside the final furlong and was well on top at the finish. The 3rd home Rosebay Coral came into the contest with some strong form and has run respectably in a handicap off a mark of 72 subsequently whilst the 4th Latenightrequest was successful on handicap debut off a mark of 68 and given that Yorkshire Relish was comfortably better than the rest of the field a mark of 80 looks very reasonable on handicap debut. Yorkshire Relish has had another run since when finishing a highly respectable 7th in the Super Sprint 13 days ago (carrying 8-3) in what was a very interesting run. Under Silvestre De Sousa, Yorkshire Relish was under full driving a full 3.5f out over the minimum which was telling to how much this usual strong traveller was struggling to go the pace but he did pick up for the pressure and having been hampered slightly inside the final furlong SDS eased off a bit in the closing stages as he finish a highly respectable 7th beaten a little over 5L. If SDS had driven him out until the line, he probably would have finished 5th but looking at what those around him achieved prior to that race it makes a mark of 80 look on the lenient side in my eyes. Given that he clearly struggled to go the pace early on a blisteringly run race LTO, Yorkshire Relish will definitely appreciate the step back up to 6f and hopefully stall 19 will be the right place to be on the track. Jamie Spencer looks a very interesting booking given that I think he'll suit the style of Yorkshire Relish really well and I hope Spencer settles his mount slightly off what is likely to be a very quick pace. A horse who is entered up in 3 valuable Sales Races later in the year, I definitely feel a mark of 80 underestimates his potential and with Kevin Ryan continuing his good form hopefully he can land this very competitive race at a decent price.
