Last RT: Cissokho has received a new Liverpool contract offer. Meditate on whether to accept it.If 'yes', Liv is directed to the VCF
Remember him at Everton and they wanted him full time but figures of £12 m were bandied about and Everton pulled out. Would be a terrific signing.
Sunderland's summer-long search for a full-back has suffered a fresh setback with Valenciaâs Aly Cissokho reported to have agreed a move to Liverpool. The Wearsiders registered their interest in the France international last month, although they knew from the start they faced stiff competition from the Reds. Reports in Spain have suggested the 25-year-old has now agreed terms with Liverpool and is poised for a move to Anfield. It is another disappointment for Sunderland who, despite bringing in nine players in a variety of positions, have so far failed to fill vacancies in both full-back roles. With Danny Rose returning to Spurs at the end of his loan spell last season, and with no chance of him being allowed to join Sunderland on a permanent basis, the Black Cats have explored a number of options at left-back. Le Havreâs French under-19 international Benjamin Mendy chose to join Marseille rather than move to England while Sunderland ran out of patience with another target, Argentinian Lucas Orban, who ended up joining Bordeaux this week instead. Sunderland have had no more luck finding a right-back to replace the soon-to-depart Phil Bardsley, with their main target Gino Peruzzi failing a medical. The Black Cats are desperate to recruit two specialist full-backs before the transfer window closes, but with only two weeks until the season begins they could be forced to employ midfielders Jack Colback and Craig Gardner on defensive duties. While Colback can play left-back on the opening day against Fulham, Gardner will not be available as he completes a three-match ban he picked up towards the end of last season. Wes Brown would be the obvious choice to step in, although head coach Paolo Di Canio is hoping to have brought in specialists by then. Aside from full-backs, Sunderland are also looking to add a creative midfielder this month with reports in Turkey claiming they have shown interest in Besiktas skipper Manuel Fernandes, who has Premier League experience after spending time at Portsmouth and Everton on loan. Besiktas manager Slaven Bilic, however, is hoping to convince the Portugal international, who is in the final year of his contract, to sign a new deal. Bilic said: âHe is good all over the pitch and he has authority. âOf course he can play better, like every other player, but he is our main man.â
We need to just put a massive bid in for Rose, the lad is worth it and at his age will have decent sell on value.
Not so sure, they are about to splash £30m on whatshisface from real madrid, could start the chain reaction
Looking like Gards and Colback v Fulham. Wouldn't overly bother me for the first three games as shouldn't be too pressed with Palace and Saints..
It bothers me mate. Failure to bring in 2 specialist full backs will be PDC's Achilles heel this season IMO and could undo all the good work done so far. Neither Gardner or Colback are good full backs IMO. I find it incredible with all the players we've brought in that we can't get 2 full backs from somewhere? Just what I'd it about us and full backs, especially bloody left backs?
I'd go as high as 10m, that's how much I rate him, apparently contrao is on the verge of signing for spurs so rose will be off imo
It really bothers me but I think I've ranted on enough. I'll be making my voice heard again if we don't bag at least two fullbacks.
