BTW, the brazilian league at the time was one of the top leagues in the world.

The last bit was to show that week in week out messi plays against rubbish players compared to him but to prove he is the real deal he does it on the biggest stage ( the champions league ) just as Pele did it for Brazil. Both are very very similar if you think about it.

had Messi scored like he does now in La liga a decade ago then I would be very very impressed but as it is its not much better than when Henrick Larrson scored loads for Celtic in the SPL.

The 1990s PL was more competitive than La Liga and we dominated that.
