You know that for sure? Wenger ditched Higuain b/c of Madrid's price hiking. Of course AW didn't know 100% what the clause was. He doesn't have Suarez's contract but he knew it'd activate a clause. SO you are angry because Wenger is faced with the choice of signing someone? <doh> Damned if you do damned if you don't

  3. Fair enough but no manager should know the clauses. Of course, we all know that in reality that is not the case <ok>

Who is the Plan B then? Be realistic, what other elite striker is out there for us to get? Secondly, why are we now in August thinking about there being another elite striker for us to get when the club has tried to and failed to sign both Higuain and now Suarez on our terms (not to forget the strong rumors linking Rooney to Arsenal which have now died down). How many more attempts are we going to make before we get out way?

You can talk about ITK nonsense / speculation / newspaper garbage all you want. These are the facts. We want to sign Suarez, we believed by placing a £40,000,001 bid we have triggered something in his contract, and we now realise that whatever we have believed to have triggered, is not actually the case. Those are the facts. Some more facts. Falcao is gone. Cavani is gone. Higuain is gone. Lewandowski is a no go. Rooney is (seemingly) Chelsea bound. There are no other elite strikers out there apart from maybe Jackson Martinez who recently stated publicly he will not leave Porto this Summer. All of those are facts. So tell me, if Wenger refuses to make a £50M bid for Suarez, what is next?

Yes they brought up the asking price but so have Liverpool, in the sense we believed £40M would get Suarez and now we will have to bid (possible in excess of) £50M for Suarez. If this had been done earlier in the Summer when other options were there to fall back on, it would have made more sense. Liverpool KNOW now that there are no other options we are desperate. They can bend us over a table and do whatever they want to us, and we are going to sit there and take it because we haven't a choice. That is due to poor planning, you can dress it up anyway you want but you know it is the truth. We have been backed into a corner and our next move is going to be made out of desperation.

Cavani? Falcao? None of those were ever coming here so why bring them up? Like I said we know **** all about what is happening behind the scenes so trying to play armchair manger and ITK detective is useless.

You still believe that? <rofl> Even when that bid first came out it was said even by many Arsenal ITKs that it wasn't a bid to buy Suarez. We didn't believe it would get him so stop preaching that nonsense.

I never said they are coming, they are just examples of elite strikers that are not available to to us. Suarez is the only one available. Wenger knows it. Liverpool know it. You know it. I know it. We all know it, why are you pretending otherwise? You don't need to be ITK to know it so what is with the smart ass replies? Do you know something we don't?

What? The ITKs who you are saying not to listen to? We don't know what the clause is meant to have done, although many outlets are reporting and have been reporting from day one (in fact, reporting it before our interest) as a release clause. That is up for debate. What we DO KNOW is that whatever we thought the clause was, it has turned out not to be. We believed by making a £40,000,001 bid we triggered something. We didn't.

So what's the point of having a buy out clause for example? Are teams blindly going to bid for the said player?

Tottenham transfer target Vlad Chiriches' chairman spits dummy but deal is expected to happen
    http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/tottenham-transfers-vlad-chiriches-deal-2110494

Tottenham are expected to land highly-rated Steaua Bucharest defender Vlad Chiriches - despite a strop from his club's president. Spurs want £7million-rated Chiriches - a 23-year-old Romania international - to replace Steven Caulker, who has been sold to Cardiff.
Caulker, who was well thought of at the White Hart Lane club, signed a four-year deal with Malky Mackay's Premier League new boys as he faced being on the bench yet again in the new season. Tottenham have moved quickly to agree a fee for Chiriches, who had been set to travel to London to complete the move.

  15. Yes! Clubs bid what they are willing to pay and if that offer happens to be over the release clause then the receiving club are obliged to accept. Hence there being question marks about the £4,000,001 bid <doh>

How is there question marks, it has been in every news paper for months that there was some sort of clause at 40 million in his contract, hardly top secret was it, every man and his dog knew there was something in the contract. No one knew exactly what it was so the only way to find out was to bid above the amount and thats what we did.

  17. Yes, its been in the media but how did they know? Wenger had obviously been told something to bid £40,000,001 too. there has clearly been dodgy stuff going off behind the scenes somewhere! am I pointing the finger at anyone? No! Am I surprised? No!

Unless there is something in his contract which requires him to keep the details of his contract secret then there is no reason why he couldn't have leaked the information knowing it would get to the right people without having done anything dodgey at all...

    #4818
  19. Fair point about the media but do you seriously think Wenger believes everything he reads in papers? Suarez nor his agent are allowed to speak to any club other than Arsenal about his contract under FA/UEFA/FIFA rules

No but he might have got a call from a buddy in the media who knew the source of the leak was from Suarez or his agent themselves and was worth a punt. Who knows, i'm just saying, having no proof how he found out doesnt equate to him being involved in dodgey dealings.
