Always liked JD, even if I've not considered him the best forward at the club, he's a great penalty box predator and someone more than deserving of a place in our squad.
There's no doubt Defoe is a good player and his goalscoring record is impressive, but he blows hot and cold and he can't always be relied upon to take that crucial chance. His league scoring record for Spurs is 90 goals in 262 games - virtually 1 in 3 - which is OK, but not comparable to the best. SAF nearly signed him. He would have got that average up a bit because he has the ability.
Defoe can't be praised as according to TMT ""he was finished 2 years ago" so any praise for him is ludicrous! (ps, hello Thor if you're reading this )
He was doing really well last season and then got injured and never really got back to 100%. We never had any back up and he came back too early. After a break he may be back to top form, let's hope so.
