Swansea ready to outspend QPR for strike star Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers has shown his determination to stay up after outbidding fellow Premier League new boys QPR for Watford star Danny Graham. Rodgers wants to strengthen his strike force and has tabled a £3million bid to bring in Graham as a replacement for Chelsea loanee Fabio Borini, who is moving on to Parma. The offer shows play-off final winners Swansea want to compete and outgun Championship top dogs Rangers, who had a £2.5m bid for Graham knocked back. Newcastle were also warned off him as hard-up Watford looked for a better deal. QPR boss Neil Warnock wants Graham, who hit 27 goals last season, but may now lose out because, despite the club being in wealthy hands, they want to do things on the cheap. It is understood Warnock also hopes to sign established Premier League players - with Tottenham's England midfielder Jermaine Jenas on his list - but any arrivals will have to be on loan as club chiefs do not want to give him a huge budget. The thrifty attitude comes despite huge ticket price rises at Loftus Road following promotion to the top flight. Warnock is believed to have a wage ceiling of £35,000-a-week for any player coming in and therefore faces an uphill task signing proven Premier League pedigree or the likes of Graham. If Swansea outbid us for Graham, I'll throw my hat at it. I hope there is no truth in this article about QPR trying to do it on the cheap. The sooner the deadly duo sell up to Mittal the better.
I have to admit to trying to convince Swansea that Leon Clarke is the striker for them, and that they should leave Graham for us. Apologies guys cause this hasn't worked. Even offered to drive Clarke over there myself but they just weren't havin it
As I have already said, HH could be a massive part of the deal. He's popular with Watford and he was the 2nd top scorer in a team that won the league
I'm hoping that we can secure Graham, he was sublime against us at home this year. His vision to find space amongst the defence and be in the right place is a natural gift and something that I believe will help him succeed in the Prem. Please please please SIGN!
I sincerely believe we should hold on to HH as he's still a good striker and could probably score a few headers for us next season. He's not the best at dribbling but he might have a little bit more space next season, at times.
Teeny bit worried about all this but, as yet, only a teeny bit. If the Bernie and Flav think they will get by in the Prem with loanees, cheapies and relying on NW to unearth and nurture another Taraabt, then our stay in The Premier League will be short and anything but sweet as we lose game after game. By all means don't spend gazillions; by all means take something out for yourselves - another car, yacht, woman, mansion, whatever but for goodness sake make some sensible investment in the club!! While Morrison is off to Norwich and Graham being hounded by Swansea - we sign...wait for it.. Ramage! A bit more worried that when I started this post. Oh well, at least NW is here .. so far.
Not good enough mate. He might score a few headers alright but he'll need about fifty sitters to achieve it. Helgs and half of the rest of our squad are Ch'ship players and need to be shipped out.
