I haven't missed the point, I know what you are saying. My point is that they should have been prepared to be put under pressure instead of blurting out what a financial superpower we have suddenly become. If they start using excuses like "other clubs asked us for more money because they know how much we have" they have nobody but themselves to blame. It isn't a valid excuse.

The point is if you come out publicly saying how much you have then others will hike up prices to maximize profit. Yes you missed the point.

So as i've been saying (and several others) Arsenal are the only club who are in for him at the moment. Madrid havent made contact and are obviously locked onto Bale.

Lots of different information on this transfer - it will be interesting to see what happens when we get some movement on it.

I think there are only two outcomes here though, either Suarez is still a Liverpool player come september or he is an Arsenal player - i can't see him ending up anywhere else - all the other big clubs have different transfer targets.

I think Liverpool would find it hard to turn down a £50mil offer if the player wants to leave, particularly if he ends up handing in a transfer request.

Disagree. You will definitely sell him if we bid £50 Million.

He would try to paint a positive picture. Also there's been no contact from Arsenal to Liverpool for a while so they probably think we've pulled out or are not interested any more.

  13. Its not £55m but if a transfer request is submitted we'll accept £50m because we won't have to pay Luis anything. The club want something around the £55m mark that Cavani was bought for AND a transfer request.

  14. With all due respect, RHC also has a contact that feeds us information directly from Brendan Rodgers himself <ok>

But I think Wenger has time to deal with that. It seems strange that it should be Wenger who is being a shrewd negotiator and Gazardis is the blabbermouth, but I do get the impression that Wenger is trying to make clubs realize that he will not pay silly money for players.

Suarez was worth a bit at 40M. At 50M, I think we can take it or leave it.

There are plenty of targets left out there, and I'm still not convinced that we really need another striker at this point. All the people who were urging us to buy Cisse and Ba, would have been pissed off if we had signed them when Newcastle did.

Anelka and Henry were both B-listers when they joined. Just because we don't get a Higuain or a Suarez, it isn't the end of the world. I still think we are keeping money in reserve for Fellaini whose release clause doesn't come active until August 15th.

Personally, I don't want us to be dropping a fit Podolski, or an in form Walcott to the bench (or Cazorla, or Wilshere).

Are we really spending 50M on a player that, if he doesn't gel with the team, might end up on the bench? If we get a B-lister then he is happy to fight for a place on the team, will Suarez be as humble?

All this noise emanating from Liverpool is a sure sign that they're worried. They're all echoing the same thing "Please Luis stay", "Arsenal are rubbish. Why would he want to go there?"
If he does eventually end up at Arsenal, no matter how unlikely it is, it will be so embarrassing for them.

Were they this gobby when Torres wanted to go to Chelsea? Can't remember.

So even if Liverpool's asking price is met, they'll still need a transfer request to make sure Suarez wants to leave? Man that's cringeworthy. Have some pride in yourselves ffs.
More importantly, how do you know this (the bit about transfer request)?

  19. What's so complicated? We don't want to sell and he has a three year contract. If he wants to leave, he hands in a transfer request! Its hardly rocket science, jeez <doh>

Firstly, tone down on the condescending stance you've taken up. Mana tryin to have a convo wiv u ennit.
Secondly, you or no other Liverpool have no clue what the club will accept or do. All this noise coming from Rodgers and Liverpool is unreliable and can't be trusted, especially when you look at their previous history of selling Torres after all that posturing.
Basically quit acting like you know what's going on. <ok>
