Given the clubs finances, I think that`s a given fact Suffolk ! The question is How much? and as Kev suggested elsewhere a transfer involving a player coming our way may be beneficial, if only to reduce what we have to pay carlisle for the sell on clause! hoping Villa dont do the same to us!
i would hate DG to go to Swansea...or QPR...i could see him going to Newcastle..i'd be thrilled for him then!
Wigan are the team to have had a £3m bid accepted for CMS, so hopefully that is him off the target list of a couple of teams, who can now focus on upping their bid for DG On BBC rumours it does say the Swansea bid was turned down, despite the other links saying it was accepted/being considered
Well, the Sun says Wigan's bid was accepted, which has set the bench-mark; http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...g-Mackail-Smith-accepted-by-Peterborough.html Whereas the Mail seems to think he'll choose Norwich; http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...3m-Craig-Mackail-Smith.html?ito=feeds-newsxml But whoever he chooses, it shows the value in the market that a League 1 goalscorer is 'worth' £3m, so would think that puts Danny at £4m+
Anyone know how things work with sell on clauses if a cash plus player deal is done? ie If West Brom offered 3m plus Simon Cox what would we have to pay Carlisle ?
I would assume that a value would be attached to the player and the 15% would be from the whole deal. Where clubs can fiddle a bit is if (in this case) they state that cox is worth 200k when in reality they think he's worth 500k for instance. The two clubs can each offer a golden goodbye/hello payment to the player to make up the loss of his % against the transfer fee.
How can CMS be worth more than Danny? This thing seems strange to me Danny younger so more potential plus proven at a higher level, willing to listen and be educated.
Couldn't find a link to the Sun report, but in the paper, it says we have turned down the £3m offer, that we were holding out for £3.25, but with a few bids already, we're hoping for a bidding war to start and push the price higher I know it is 'only' the Sun, but lets hope there is truth in it!
I think that the clubs have to be reasonable with valuations in P-X deals as there are tax implications and piss-taking valuations can be challenged by HMRC; Say we sell Danny to WBA for £3m + Cox who is valued by WBA at a ridiculously low (say) £250K. WBA would use this £250 K to establish the loss on selling Cox, and by Watford for establishing the profit on the sale of DG. HMRC could challenge this and attrbute a value of (say) £1m to Cox thereby adding £750 k to Watford's profit and reducing WBA's loss by £750k. Quite big sums of tax involved.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13635099.stm Hmm... I think we need to just say no, a number of clubs are interested and I can't imagine there not being any further offers through the summer. £3m would be a bargain for Swansea.
If he goes to Swansea it should be part of the contract that BR has to humiliate himself and repay the salary he earned here as way of an apology
