Lets hope we have done our due diligence on the injury side and that he can keep up his goal every two games ratio he had with Burnley. We need to make sure we can feed that ball in to him now. Good luck Charlie & welcome to the Superhoops.
24 year old striker that has scored goals all his career including non league. Will be hungry to prove himself....... good signing
Looks like there could be more good news today or tomorrow, this from Ian Butterworth the chief scout; Ian Butterworth ‏@IanButterworth2 51m He didn't need much scouting/research... More signings soon... Or is that very...!! #QPR
I'm sure our medical team have weighed everything up and given approval for this to happen. I was already looking forward to Saturday - this has made my day
Great signing, more than capable - we need his goals, which he will score if he gets the necessary service - 28 for Burnley last season, next highest scorer only 8 goals, so if AJ & Zamora chip in we should have a good goals tally. We can win those 3-2 games, even if we have a few defensive lapses. Austin, who previously worked as a bricklayer and was playing in non-league football until joining Swindon in 2009, could make his QPR debut in their Championship opener against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23533841 We can use those skills as we have some re-building to do! please log in to view this image A prolific start to the 2012-13 campaign saw Austin become the fastest Burnley player in the club's history to score 20 goals in a season, reaching the mark after just 17 appearances. Let's hope he repeats that feat for us - really excited now about the Sheff Wed game - unfortunately I'm travelling away on vacation to a cottage by the ocean for 3 weeks (Eddie's "A Cockney's Journey" just arrived from Amazon.ca as did Warnock's book, so I have plenty of beach reading ahead of me). Lee Hoos, Burnley's chief executive, said his club were desperate for the player to stay and were simply unable to compete financially with Rangers. "We worked very hard to keep Charlie at Burnley and we are sorry to see him go," he commented. "However, we were unable to compete with the package on offer from Queens Park Rangers, a club in receipt of the largest parachute payments in history and able to offer what are effectively Premier League wages in the Championship.
Ive seen it as both but I hope its the shoulder. A shoulder is fine unless you fall badly, a knee.. well theres not a lot you can do with that.
From a Burnley site: The deal is likely to be heavily weighted towards fees for appearances and goals. Sounds plausible after his failed medical.
Harry Redknapp told the London Evening Standard he expects the deal to go through this afternoon. So he was still mouthing off before it was sealed?
I think it was directed at the fee, but hopefully there is a performance related contract for the player too.
I reserve my opinion until we know exactly what sort of Austin we have purchased with two owners? please log in to view this image
Charlie Austin please log in to view this image It's this one DT. Hope we got a discount with the failed medical and all.
Would be great if we could play the little sound bite that they used to play during the 6 million dollar man every time he used his bionic powers every time Austin takes a shot, then we can all do the theme tune when he scores. Alas I think most of our support now a days would ask who the **** is the 6 million dollar man?
