Surprised none of their fans have come on here and taken the piss. I mean, there is nothing to take the mick out of, but some of them will be stupid enough to try, surely?
How can he fail a medical with us and pass one with QPR? Other than the obvious they don't care or are willing to take a risk... all seems a bit odd to me.
Demba Ba did the same with Stoke if I recall. Or maybe it is because our medical facilities are superior?
It's not like they wouldn't ask him or his agent about why he failed his medical with us. Whatever it was Bruce said it was a non started so why are they happy to ignore that?
Because they have the money to stupidly burn. And it robs potential competitors for promotion of a key asset.
What, like spending loads was meant to propel them last season? God I hope DQPR end up in mid-table mediocrity. Relegation looks just too far away for them, sadly.
Burnley never kicked-off about us determining the fitness of their player, so you would have to think there is something in the findings of the medical we undertook. It's up to QPR what they want to do. Maybe a deal without insurance and a calculated risk that may or may not pay off. I think we have been ultra cautious when looking to invest £4.5m due to past experience - which is the correct course of action for us at the moment.
Couldn't give a flying toss about old 'Arry. Can't believe I'm saying this, but I even hope Leeds beat QPR this year. Good luck to Austin, but I'd hope QPR go down.
Yeah I always thought that was VERY telling. The first thing I extected the next day after we pulled the pug was a strognly worded statement from Burnley rebuking our assessment and claiming Charles as fit as the proverbial. See Posh and Boyd. However when this didnt come it suggested to me that we behaved entirely professionally throughout and Burnley conceded there probably was something in it to make us at least wary of spending that much on him. I hope for himself that he never gets injured again and has a blinder down there, but even if he does that doesnt mean we were 'wrong'. I still hope that his new club do ****e, Redknapp gets the sack and they almost go bust but not quite a la Pompey, as they're the epitome of what is wrong with modern football. Seriously, how can they afford him unless Remy is going for £10m?
I do wonder sometimes about the whole "Medical" process... surely if he failed a medical with us, he would fail a medical with any other club? As someone said above, Demba Ba failed a medical with Stoke only to go on and sign for Newcastle. From the info I've found online he failed due to a problem with his knee.... as did Austin.. The funny thing is that Ba went on to do extremely well for Newcastle and didnt have any problems with this so called knee injury which was enough for Stoke to pull out of their deal to sign him. I have a feeling that Austin will do very well for QPR and will be playing in the prem next season... and the irony of football is that if we stay up, he'll score against us and celebrate wildly pointing at his frigging knee or something as daft. I guess the bottom line is that Austin's knee problem would have been detected by QPR's medical staff, the info would have been passed onto 'arry and he obviously doesnt care enough about protecting the club against having an injured player on their books for the next 3 years...
Players fail medicals and then pass them at other clubs all the time. It's nothing new. Im happy for the player, he never criticised us, we seem to have behaved professionally, I dont see that he'd have reason to rub our faces in it. Build a bridge.
Well I've been assured by a few people on here that he definitely failed a medical (I presumed it was a cover story because we couldn't agree terms or some other ****). The Premier League is obviously a tougher league against tougher opposition. We obviously didn't want to run the risk of paying so much for one player, only to have him injured for a long period of time while he recovers. Which wouldn't represent value for money, or help our goalscoring situation in the league. His absence would mean we'd struggle, so Brucey obviously thought it wasn't worth the risk.
DQPR can afford to blow £2.5m on Austin as they have money to burn. They are also desperate after missing out on Hooper. Good luck to Austin but i dont see DQPR going up. They could make top 6 though. I am going for Wigan and either Watford or Bolton for the top 2.
