Haven't a clue, was told he didn't like Southampton or Saints fans tho. Don't know if there's any truth in that.

Tbf to Phillips, we rejected him as a LB, when he was a kid. Then we got him back as a striker and many supporters didn't take to him, although I didn't have a problem, and finally he had emotional/partner problems while he was here. Not a memory of a great time in his life, I'd imagine.

Yeah, this is my acoustic. I bought them because I wanted to try something new and the guy in the shop recommended them and said he uses nothing else. I went for a lighter gauge than usual as well (.011-.052). They have a nice sound and I guess the protective coating is what makes them so expensive, but my hands slip all over the place when playing lead and I'm making tons of mistakes. I suppose that could help improve my accuracy in the long run, in the same way that Brazilians practice football with tiny balls and no shoes. I'll give your recommendation a go next time, and I've also heard good things about D'Addario so that's on the shopping list too.

For my Squier I always use Ernie Ball Super Slinky or Hybrid Slinky.

Well it could be that they are light gauge. I'm no expert, but when I've played with lights they seem to get pushed all over the place. My abiding memory of Elixirs are that they want to roll out from under the fingers and they don't sound like anything worth the money paid for them. Mind you, strings seem to have been getting quite a bit pricier of late.

Sky going round all 92 League/PL clubs today. At Everton, they briefly mentioned the fitting of Hawkeye. I wonder if results will make the costs worthwhile. How many dodgy goals are there a season? Be interesting to see by the end of the season.

Wonder who we'll have speaking for us on Sky. They are talking to the manager at Leicester, but have spoken to kitmen and groundsman at other clubs. Depends who is in when they turn up I suppose.

Any guitarists on here who have used Elixir strings? I splashed out on a pack yesterday and it turns out I kinda hate them. I want to know if they get less **** after they've been worn in a bit.

Heard nothing good about them, and they're pricey. This is what I use for my acoustic (searches Amazon history): D'Addario EJ16 Phosphor Bronze Light (.012-.053) Acoustic Guitar Strings. Nothing wrong with these at all.

D'Addario's are reckoned to be the best by all the guitarists I know. I use them if I can get hold of them, apart from the quality of the strings I like the different-coloured ends.

The coloured ends really help!

Totally different but it's a simmiler reason I like Dunlop Tortex picks, they come in bright colours so when you drop them on a messy floor you stand a better chance of finding them again.

Interesting, I've always thought referees should front up to the media, both to explain their viewpoints and decisions as frequently there'll be a big hoo-hah over a decision for a few days and the FA will come out and say 'The referee made the decisions because of this and this', and the general reaction will be 'Oh, OK', and to create a little more accountability. Respect the ref is all very good but would like to see the FA stop making refs almost untouchable and consistent or huge mistakes should be met with more consequences. I have a feeling this 'opportunity' may not be taken up that often, however.

The rest of it, especially the pundits... Bleh...

Sack the rest but keep the four in bold.

Agreed.

I err...umm...err...umm...don't actually mind Alan Hansen.

None of them really get up my nose personally, in fact I can find Hansen and Lawrenson's dreary sarcasm fairly amusing at times and like their no-nonsense approach, but none of them them offer anything really insightful or interesting too often, all just comes from a couple of decades old copy of 'Punditry For Dummies'.

To be honest, none of those inspire me. I found that the team that were predominantly on MOTD2 tended to be more informative and entertaining, and that was just as much down to presenter Colin Murray as the pundits themselves.

I can't stand how people go on about the MOTD pundits. If you fancy a moan, there are plenty of things worth moaning about. A bunch of former pros sitting around and telling you what you've already seen is not one of those things.
