Thought it could do with its own thread.

£85m or more on the plate and they're thinking of rejecting it.
Firstly what are Madrid thinking of offering that money and secondly spuds are nuts to possibly reject it.

The guy is valued £50m tops, had about 7 good games last year, was the 3rd top goal scorer and has never won anything. It is impossible to comprehend how Tottenham aren't sending him out on the first flight for that offer.

Lets hope the stupidity continues. Would rather be competing for spots with a Spurs team with Bale than a team with 90M worth of players that replace him.

What the feck happened to the so called Spanish depression????

I too am a bit baffled how we are receiving offers of just £40 million for Suarez and Tottenham are receiving over twice as much for a player only 3 years younger than him. I can only assume it has something to do with image and merchandise. Bale has a bit of 'Ronaldo' about him in terms of image (despite looking like a monkey) whereas Suarez's public persona is pretty appalling. If those prices are based solely on talent then maybe I've been watching the wrong sport. Suarez is infinitely more talented than Bale. Not to say Bale is poor, he's in fact a brilliant player but nowhere near worth those valuations.

I am thinking that the english press will fixate o nthis for a few days... i reckon marca will break a suarez switch by real within the week to give levy the hurry on.

6. Ridiculous as it is, Spurs will be rejecting it (if true) because its an opening offer.

It's probably because Madrid as a club have spoilt kid syndrome. They always get what they want, they'll just keep tapping Bale up until he forces his way out.if Levy listens to offers, then rejects them and ask for more, Madrid will come back with more and more money.

8. Levy probably knows this too since he experienced it with Modric <ok>

this is the truth in the whole tale.

Bale was a bloody ****ing fool for singing any new deal with the spuds. moron. he saw modric's case and should never have given power to levy if he really wanted a big move. I simply think this story will become an example of a totally out of control one upmanship by the press. the real fee when or if it happens will not be 80-85-95-100 mil + its just plain silly now as the press try to make it ever more sensationalist to sell one more paper over and above yesterdays guy.

let me be clear here

1 Ronaldo to Real Madrid £80
3 Ibrahimović Barcelona £59
4 Kaká Real Madrid £56
5 Cavani Paris Saint-Germain £55
6 Figo Real Madrid £52
7 Falcao Monaco £51
8 Torres chelsea £50
9 Neymar Barcelona £48.6
10 Zinedine Zidane Real Madrid £46

that is the list of worlds most expensive players.

First you can see WHY the press would think real pay massive money. 4 of the buys in the top 10. only kaka was not a record at the time i think.

Lets put this in context however. Neymar cost less than 50 mil. the english press want me to believe bale is double the value.

just think on that one...

now look at that list. There are a FEW grossly over inflated fees in there. who? cavani aint worth that, not half it. kak was past it when he was bought IMO. Falcao is good but not that good and torres was also past it. These represent CRAZY STUPID club with NO FINANCIAL SENSE.

NOw look at the real transfers again. Zidane, figo, ronaldo... all purchased on a plan to recoup cash off the field. Kaka might not represent that but maybe they did in SA? who knows. In short i beleive Real will only buy if this works financially.

Again is bale worth or capable of selling £100million in merchandise over 5 years? No bloody way.

He is worth what Madrid what to splash on him and what Spurs agree to sell him at... Simple really...

The fact is, and i totally agree with you, from a financial point of view it ludicrous to say the least that he is worth in excess of £80m...

I hope the ole top dogs of FFP keep an eye on this move...<whistle>:bandit:

Bale has few trophies and little European experience. Ronaldo had both trophies amd bags lf cl experience when he went to Real at the same age, he was (and is) also a much better than that overrated diving chimp. Levy wanting 126m is hilarious, but more fool Real if they're dumb enough to pay it.

It's funny. It's been an arms race in the press. One day it starts at 35m pounds - too low of course. The next few days all is abuzz as reporters keep bumping that up by a few mill (35 + addons becomes 38m in the next article). Next thing you know, it's "around 40m" which is technically true if you consider 35 close to 40. So when all is said and done, Real's offer of 43m has now risen to 46m. Aren't Spurs dumb for rejecting that 49m bid? That's because 52m isn't what Bale is worth to Tottenham, what with CL qualification and shirt sales. Surely Bale, the British talent, is worth more than those 56m? So if Levy sits down and looks at this 59m bid, will he take 62? Because if he takes 66m that is absolutely devastating for Spurs. No, as an editor of a rag, we better print that the bid is 65m to force Real's hand - if they want him, they'll have to pay through their teeth to the tune of 68m. But wait! We know that Levy controls all the power and is a good negotiator, so he probably wouldn't take less than 70 - no make that 72m. That's more like it - No one is going to doubt these numbers because we will simply hide our sources and feed off of other media - presenting the 75m bid as confirmed by the hundreds of articles that have been written. After all, if we have had so many pages dedicated to this subject, it must be true, right? There isn't a reason for Real not to bid 77m - everyone else has been reporting it. 80m. Isn't that just insane? We will have to see how this 85m bid is recieved - and the story goes on.
