Really? Aside from being title challengers for three of those four years in one of the two strongest leagues in the world, as well as managing cup runs and being home to some of the best players around, you're arguing they're not among the world's best teams because they've been a bit naff in the Champions League? Come on, you surely can't argue that City aren't among the best.

Yes I did miss your reply, I apologise there's been a few.

My problem is not so much with Barry. The statement that he was a key player for Man City, one of the best teams in the world for several years was the thing I was questioning.

We have 3 CDMs better than Barry. That's a good note to finish the discussion about Barry on.

As this thread is now going way off topic I will beg to differ. But you did use the word naff in your reply??

I nearly posted a few weeks back that Torres on loan would be excellent, if Chelsea paid part wages.

Torres would be a brilliant signing for us.

Struggled for form of late but a player with undoubted ability, played for some of the best teams in the world imo at national and club level.
Would be our biggest signing since Keegan but see he was linked with Valencia today which seemed strange with their financial difficulties.

Would have preferred him to Lovren, to be frank.

Cortese's excelling himself on the secrecy front. Not a murmur. It's almost like we aren't signing anyone<whistle>

I think he's highly overrated simply because he's English. Seen him play and he's no great shakes. No better than Yoshi or Fonte IMO.

People forget that he scored 23 goals for Chelsea last season, along with 7 assists.

Wasn't great last year, but Tottenham's defense was something of a mess at times, with or without him. The year previous, I thought that he was very good with Swansea.

Still, no better than Yoshida or Fonte, both of whom cost far less.

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere (and apologies as it's not exactly relevant to this thread), but Anders Svensson is captaining Elfsborg vs Celtic in the Champions League this evening. Just got booked for flattening Samaras. He must be pushing on for 40.

It is however worth pointing out that he only scored 8 goals in 36 league games, to go with 6 in 32 and 1 in 14 his previous two terms with Chelsea before that.

Basically in his last 82 league games he's scored the same amount as Rickie Lambert in his debut Premier League season. ;)
