Don't get my posts wrong, I'm a big Carroll fan. What I was saying was that to lean on him for creativity in the absence of bale would be a ballsy call.

Kaboul's a weird one at the moment because he's been training with the team since they returned for pre-season, not sure why he's not featured yet, surely a 20 minute spell here and there is exactly what he needs to get his sharpness back? As much as I'd love him too, I can't see him starting against Palace unless he gets around two 60 minute (at least) spells against Monaco and Espanyol... Even that would be pushing it to get him match fit.
I believe Carroll will get slaughtered by the fans and press if he starts as a playmaker CM and is found wanting. I know this is a position Spurs need to rectify ASAP, but not at the cost of seeing his confidence ripped to shreds under the weight of expectation.

It's clear that the management do not think Caulker is actually good enough, simple as that. And going by last season I couldn't see that he was going to be at the Kaboul/Vertonghen/Dawson level any time soon. Plus with the English premium he's worth 50% more than an equally-able young player from, say, Romania. This would seem to be the thinking at this point. Hope we got a buy-back clause in there, though. Kaboul wasn't good enough when we sold him but was plenty good enough by the time we got him back.
Yeah that is odd, unless they believe he can't play matches as they believe it will set him back, just we only have Dawson (who is liable to injuries) , verts injured, gallas and caulker gone and last season AVB said he was happy with our four centre backs and gallas had to go. kyle walker at centre back
Has Zecki Fryers been playing at at CB at all in pre-season? Think I've seen some team lists that didn't make much sense CB-wise.
That's a point lenny, has Fryers pushed Caulker down the list and out? Haven't seen enough of him to say. Is The Bramble ramble really from an official source?
I said a while back that Fryers will be a cracking player for us. Fergie was livid when we got him, which ought to tell you everything you need to know.
Oh God I forgot that they got some marketing consultant in to piss away all their visual history and tradition...
Alright spurf, I'll be surprised if fryers Is given a chance as he's never player centre back at premier league level and some have been saying Carroll isn't ready yet how could fryers be ready for the 1st team, using the same logic. unless he's a young Rio ferdinand, then by all means chuck him in.
