They'll offer him a pay per play. he pays them £35k every time he pulls his other (in addition to OM and Newcastle) 'beloved' shirt on.

There won't be a response mate, it doesn't warrant one.

McKay (his agent) is as bent as they come & he's just flying a kite here, there's no way the EFC board would sanction a move for Barton, he's a ****ing dolt & he's not got the talent to make him worth the potential risk.

Willie McKay:
“Last week Marseille made an offer to Joey but his package at QPR is quite big for Marseille’s financial reach,” McKay told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show. “Joey has said there is only one club he is willing to make that sacrifice for and that’s Everton. He would lose money by going there.”

And McKay added that he has contacted the Merseyside club about a switch.
“I made a call to Roberto Martinez and he didn’t rule it out,” he said. “He said he likes him as a player." (but not as person, goes without saying)

“Joey wants to play for Everton. It could happen. Bill Kenwright likes Joey, and David Moyes tried to get him a couple of years back.
“It could happen but it’s up to Everton. I’ve approached them and said Joey would like to have their name on his CV. He’s supported them since he was a young kid and it’s the club he loves.”

Please please please let this rumour have some legs, PLEASE.

But with their arrogance it probably won't happen. "Joey would like to have their name on his CV", who would say something like that?! Everton are a far to sound club to go and make a signing like this. Only hope would be if they got desperate after possibly losing Fellaini.

What a load of bollox....he'll still get a weekly over inflated wage...besides i thought that money wasn't an issue with Joseph anymore!!!!

I think the penny is beginning to drop with him that he is not as highly rated by others as he is in his own mind and is starting to get a little desperate....Stay strong TF and eventually Barton will buy out his contract....

Don't build up your hopes guys and Beth, Martinez is a decent man who likes to play decent football with decent people. Can well believe that he was curteous to Mckay as that's the type of man he is.

Exclusive - Neville Southall compares Joey Barton to Forrest Gump and urges Everton to steer clear of QPR midfielder

By Alex Varney | Wednesday, July 31, 2013

Neville Southall has urged Everton manager Roberto Martinez not to grant Joey Barton his dream move to Goodison Park.

Barton’s agent Willie McKay told talkSPORT on Wednesday that his client was keen to join the club he supported as a boy and would be prepared to take a significant wage cut to force through a move from QPR.
But Goodison Park legend Southall believes Martinez would be wise to steer clear of the controversial midfielder.
"I think they have already got a kitman," said Southall, when asked on Hawksbee & Jacobs whether he thought the 30-year-old would be a good signing.
"What is he going to add to Everton? He might be a half decent player at times but, if he was that good, Harry Redknapp would be begging him to stay at QPR.
“I don’t see how he will fit into Everton’s style of play. He ain't the best passer in the world. Yes, he is fit and runs up and down all day but Forrest Gump did that as well, didn’t he?
"I would rather he [Martinez] got in a young lad, who is probably on less money and a better prospect in the long run so they have got until January to bed him in and see what he is like. A 30-year-old at Everton? I was hoping they were past that, unless he was a current international."

Is there not some sort of breach of contract here. surely if a player goes looking for another while under contract their employers could cancel their contract. (fingers crossed)

Forrest Gump!
Now there's a tag the crowds will love at football matches!
He won't be able to play on the UK any more! What a result!
Keep running Joey... don't stop 'til Marseille.

Perhaps Barton could offer himself on his sword, since he has dishonoured our team?

A few members of our team should have perhaps performed this action after the Reading game? Would have solved our problem with those long-term highly paid contracts.

Seppuku, also called hara-kiri, both mean ‘belly cutting.’ A samurai’s sense of honour preferred death to capture and if defeated or outnumbered he would perform seppuku, keeping his honour in tact.

Strange how he 'suddenly' finds Everton so attractive, he's painting himself into a corner...

Boyhood Everton fan Barton, 30, has been linked with a move to Goodison Park and speculation increased after he cryptically Tweeted "once a blue..." last night.

But former Everton goalkeeper Southall believes Roberto Martinez should cross the QPR midfielder, who spent last season on loan at Marseille, off his list of transfer targets.

Southall said: "What is he going to add to Everton? I think they have already got a kitman.

"He might be a half-decent player at times but, if he was that good, then Harry Redknapp would be begging him to stay at QPR.

"I don't see how he will fit into Everton's style of play. He isn't the best passer in the world. Yes he is fit and runs up and down all day but Forrest Gump did that as well, didn't he?

Neville Southall

Barton, after his stint in France last term, appears to have no future at Loftus Road after their relegation to the Championship.

His salary seems to have put off the French club from making a move to sign him permanently and his agent Willie McKay is exploring other options.

"Obviously his package with QPR is pretty big for Marseille's terms," said McKay.

"Joey said there was only one club he would make a sacrifice for and it would be Everton, and I made that call to Martinez.

"That is the club he loves. I have approached them. Joey said he would lose money to go to Everton, and not many professionals would do that."

McKay claims Martinez, who wants a central midfielder, is an admirer of Barton.

"Roberto Martinez said he likes him as a player and he also spoke to assistant manager Graeme Jones, who loves him as a player," he said.

Martinez and the rest of the Everton squad are in San Francisco where they will kick off their pre-season games in the United States tonight against Juventus in the International Champions Cup.

And Martinez is looking forward to pitting his managerial prowess, alongside his side's ability, against the Italian champions.

"It is a great challenge. It is a glamorous game against a team I have admired for the last few years," he said.

"From a tactical point of view, they are the best team playing a back three. It's going to be a terrific test. This is as good as it gets in terms of games for us."
