I'd rather pay someone to take him off us. Just get rid of him.

He really is taking a risk by doing that as all THFC staff have been strongly reminded of the need for confidentiality on all matters, with the threat of dismissal should anyone be found breaking this directive.

I like Caulker but a fee in excess of £8m? See ya later aligator.

    Maybe we'll see Alderweireld now?

so presuming he's on his bike, who do you all think is the best person within our grasp to replace Bale?

I have absolutely no idea, but am extremely concerned about our creativity and spark...

    I have no idea anymore.

    We now need.

    A creative midfielder
    A left back
    A backup Goal Keeper
    2 new centre backs
1 (2 if Ade goes) strikers
    Bale replalcement (if he goes)

My head is spinning and frankly I have no idea where we are going with this window now, and you know what, as much as I moan and groan and want us to get stuff done - Supporting Spurs WOULDNT BE supporting Spurs if it wasn't for transfer windows like this.

The drama, the unpredictability, the surprise sales and purchases, the ITKs, the deals that fall through, the excitement when you get linked with a superstar.

At the end of the day I don't care if Bale goes, or if he stays - I love Spurs. (And it means every year of Football Manager / FIFA is a new refreshing challenge :p)

    Yeah, Chiriches <ok>
Not gonna jump on the Lamela bandwagon as I know nothing about him.

As i said in my original question, it's about who is within our grasp. I agree with you, as I have said, i think we need creativity. Christian Eriksen is that man, IMO. it's a no brainer. £15m, he knows vertonghen and he's still so young. It has Levy written all over it.

I expect Coentrao to happen, but after the Bale deal goes through.

god knows about the other positions.

    This now sounds BAD.

Spurs staff reminded to shut the hell up, that basically means Bale is going to me. I know that is a massive journo hack type conclusion to jump to but what else could it mean?

So we're selling our 3rd fit CB and the deal for the replacement is now "off". WTF?

Worst of all we've loaned out Khumalo, who is presumably our 4th choice CB. I assume the loan is because he is one for the future.

Are we all SURE we've loaned Khumalo and sold Caulker rather than vice versa??

    I am depressed.

If I had to give a list.

CAM - Erikson as you say although I'm a tad sceptical about him
    LB - Coentrao
    GK - Jack Butland?
CB - Ashley Williams & Skrtel
    ST - Soldado & Cardozo (benfica) (?)
Bale - Di Maria (if he was up for it) or Gaitan (benfica)

So you think Bale is going, or are we waiting a year for Coentrao?

Alright Roo, how's twit world? haha

Yeah personally I'm not worried about resell value, as it's that mentality that's held us back, it's just it's a funny one meeting a buy out clause of a 28yr old, 28 million, I never thought Levy would take such a risk.

    http://www1.skysports.com/football/...rms-desire-to-leave-tottenham-for-real-madrid

Gareth Bale has left Tottenham's training ground for the day after telling Andre Villas-Boas he wants to join Real Madrid.

Spurs are yet to comment on the world record bid of more than £85m lodged by Real several days ago and have not wavered publicly on their stance that the player is not for sale.

In the meantime, Bale spent around five hours at the club's north London training centre on Tuesday and underwent treatment on a muscle injury, departing shortly after 2pm.

And, according to Sky sources, the 24-year-old took the opportunity while there to reiterate his desire to leave for Spain.

Villas-Boas said at the weekend he was hopeful of having Bale fit for a friendly against Monaco this Saturday, but the concern now for Tottenham supporters is whether last season's double Player of the Year will be around for the start of the new season.

One former Spurs player, Jamie Redknapp, told Sky Sports' Football Season Preview show he believes it is now inevitable Bale will leave for Madrid, saying the club "always sells at the right price."

And Real's charm offensive continued on Tuesday when Sergio Ramos joined club captain Iker Casillas and director Zinedine Zidane in talking up a move.

Real's offer is understood to be for cash despite reports suggesting former Spurs midfielder Luka Modric, now at the Bernabeu, might form part of any deal.

Watching from the sidelines are Bale's former club Southampton, who are in line to pocket 2.5% of any transfer fee.

But that pales in comparison to the 15% sell-on they are believed to have agreed at the time of his 2007 move to White Hart Lane.

Southampton waived that clause at a time when they were in financial difficulty, instead receiving around £1.5m and goalkeeper Tommy Forecast, and now stand to earn just £2m as opposed to £13m if Real sign Bale.

I'm not sure if you were trying to say this or not but I think Caulker & Khumalo going could be a sign Bale is off. As we would use the £8m + some Bale money to bring in a couple better CBs (which we cant have money for if we are also buying Soldado and have already spent £25m on Paulinho an Chadli)

Seems in a couple of days we are gonna go from having a nearly completed squad to having a LOT of work to do in the next month. What are the powers that be playing at? I hope they have some aces up their sleeves, ones without goofy, bitey teeth on too.

That isn't what i was saying, but we need a CB (or 2) if all these deals happen.
