I also get a buzz out of watching a youth player progress through the ranks,I probably more than you Typical as I support the youth team. Did you not get a buzz at Wembley when Saca saved that penalty from Michael Gray? If you didn't you must be made of stone. Did you not get a buzz when we stuffed Chelsea 4-1 at the Valley or when we beat Arsenal? Or drew with Man U? What is best for the club is Premiership football without a doubt. We are not sustainable in the Championship. Would you be happy if we went into Administration in the Championship or div 1.
Who says we are not sustainable in the Championship? if that is true why is there a championship? Sure we would be better off in the Prem but we are not, make do with what you have. Do you think people living in Thamesmead want to live in Thamesmead? if thats your lot in life, then so be it. The bed wetters on CL are getting to you. Last season they predicted administration at xmas. Powell to be sacked in November, all sorts. These were supposed to be in the know supporters, they are just nothing but reactionary, puddle jumping, under pant sniffing p*****s who should be ashamed to wear trousers.
Cold hard facts say we are not sustainable, 7 million pound loss in a year with something similar next time says we are not sustainable. We would be sustainable if we had a sugar Daddy like Abramovich, but we have the chuckle brothers Jiminez and Slater who are looking for loose change down their sofas,as we speak, to fund a forward purchase. The sooner these charlatans fix us up with some decent owners and f**k off the better.
Sorry guys, bit of modding needed - you're both true Addicks with strong views on the club, but can we keep it the right side of the line? Cheers, Tewkes
Oops sorry. So to put this to bed. It's seems that your real gripe with the current board is that they do not have enough money? So we can totally disregard the millions pumped in to get this club out of Div 1, the purchase of approximately 23 new players, appointing CP as manager? And generally reversing in three years the total mismanagement by the last board of the previous 6? So the charlton fans way is, we will take your money till it runs out and then you find us new owners and we can libel you until you do. Classy. You do realise the only reason the supporters trust dislike this board is because the board won't let them play in the boardroom as non paying directors. You see the woods out there by the trees? It's very arrogant of you to expect more and very uncharlton
No point in replying to this as it is so far removed from the truth as to be laughable, you just keep on believing what you want to believe. I would not trust Jiminez and Slater with my sons pocket money.
This is a serious question, although may not sound like it. Two and a half years ago the new owners brought the club when administration was inevitable. True or false? It put us in a situation where we could retain or release vast numbers of players purely for football reasons. True or false? The made a brilliant appointment in SCP. True or false? The invested in 23ish new players 2 years ago to allow us to get out of league one. True or false? Despite making massive losses we invested approximately 1 Million pounds in new players last summer. True or false? They employed high quality staff to ensure we achieved status 2 for the academy. True or false? We haven't sold a first team player for non football reasons in over 2 years. True or false? SCP was allowed to use the loan market more than once last season. True or false? We have already signed 2 players this summer and continue to look at trialists, including players for the development squad. True or false. If this board are that bad the answers are obviously mainly false. Have I missed something?
Only thing I'll say to those points CAFC4ever is... Had we not sold Jenkinson to Arsenal for £1m would the board have still allowed us to have signed those 23ish new players? Other than that I completely agree with the other points
Of the 23 wiggins, Morrison, Stephens, green and hamer cost actually cash money. i believe the rest were free? So if you add the Elliot money in I would say most of them would of come in anyway.
Yeah valid point... I always forget that we managed to storm that league with a lot free transfers which made the feat just that little bit better
Depending on your outlook, the fact that the club was able to make that much money from a player sale could be seen as a positive for the board. After all, it was just a year after Shelvey was sold.
Actually, I was enjoying that. A bit of passionate debate after a long dull summer. I've been following the two of you on the mobile, as it's too hot to work. To be honest Typical, at the start, I thought you were both making valid points, but the more you explained yourself the more Dick seemed to be right. I grew up on Charlton as a yoyo club between divisions two and three, and while it was exciting and often fun, there were relegations, and days when we wre rubbish just like the prem (a 5-1 drubbing athome to Luton on a tuesday night sticks in the mind- I was traumatised for weeks). On the other hand, while the Prem had a lot of plastic about it, and I agree Barnsley and Huddersfield fans are a lot less arrogant tan Chelski or Arsenal (shall we mention the Massives here?), I never dreamed I'd see us win at Highbury, beat Chelsea 4-1 and many of the other memorable times. Okay, it lead us from the good times to the bad, but could'nt we hope to go back and learn from that. One other thing, having lived through the near closing of the club when Lennie Lawrence was in charge, I can't take much pleasure from seeing us wobbling on the edge of a financial abyss- And another thing!!! If Barnsley choose to gain a heavy revenge for that 6-0 we inflicted last season, I dare you (Typical) to come on here saying 'this is the life' or words to that effect!!!
On past form, I think typical would be OK with that Previous thread by typical, after losing at home to Watford http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/172429-Can-you-feel-it League position on that date: 20th http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/league-championship/2012-2013/table/2012-10-03
Nice bit of research there IA. One thing about me is that I take great pleasure in misery and abject disaster. It gives me a reason to beat the wife.
Cheers typical, was just curious how you see us finishing given your views on Charlton etc. Lets hope we are atleast one of the 12 hey
