Firstly I reckon most Manchester United fans can't read.
My dates are correct.
Manchester United would have only qualified for Europe in 1985-1986(Cup winners cup) and 1988-1989(Uefa Cup) during the ban. They did qualify for the Cup Winners Cup in 1990-1991 as the ban was lifted on ALL English clubs for that season...except Liverpool who were re-instated in 1991-1992.The only club I left out was Aston Villa who did qualify for the UEFA Cup in 1990-1991 and were NOT affected by the ban on English sides.
Everton missed on Europe in 1985-1986 and 1987-1988.
Arsenal missed out on Europe in 1989-1990.
Coventry missed out in 1987-1988.
Wimbledon missed out in 1988-1989.
Liverpool missed out on Europe in 1985-1986,1986-1987,1987-1988,1988-1989,1989-1990,1990-1991.Liverpool suffered from the ban more than anyone else. And that is the point I was making until a bunch of Man United ******s butted in.

Under the old format we would of been in it more than any other major european club. Is it so hard to believe we wouldnt of won it more using the old format where you only ever played 1 team from each major league at most.

The point being that when we won 4 under the old format the champions from the strongest leagues were in it as well as the champions of the weaker smaller nations.

As pointed out earlier, you can only beat whats in front of you.

Welcome aboard my old mate<ok>
You probably remember me as StevieCarraPepeandElnino on BBC606..I got banned for picking fights with Man Ure fans. You told me a lot about Celtic supporters clubs in Liverpool and your Irish connections in Wexford. And the Irish pubs in Liverpool such as Pogue Mahones.

so when it suits you germany are one of the biggest footballing nations - when liverpool were beating teams like bayern munich and borrussia monchengladbach, germany were world cup winners

spot on mate, what he overlooked is that monchengladbach contained the backbone of the reigning world champions and the reigning european player of the year, and Bayern had never been knocked out of europe on their own ground until did it on away goals.

Also we are still the only English club to beat Barca in european competition at the Nou Camp.

Yep,things were easy in those days.

Thats right.Berti Vogts,a world cup winner was in that team.Allan Simonsen,Danish International was in that team,he was later crowned European Footballer of the year in late 1977..They weren't a famous club, but they had top top players. Some people should check ther facts before posting. Some idiots say that Bob Paisley never ''built a team''.3 just 3 players remained from the 1977 team in the 1981 team, and that 1981 team was also being broken up.Clem joined Spurs,Jimmy Case and Ray Kennedy both left,Dave Johnson joined Everton and Terry Mac also left in the summer of 1981 as did Steve Heighway..

I'm gonna list the champion's league winners from 1992 onwards, and tell you where they finished in their respective national leagues the previous season. United19Red, you say you'd have won more if only the champions from each country were allowed entry. Well:

Marseille - 1st
Milan - 1st
Ajax - 3rd (Milan Runners Up - 1st)
Juventus - 1st
B Dortmund - 1st
R Madrid - 1st
M United - 2nd
R Madrid - 2nd
B Munich - 1st
R Madrid - 1st
Milan - 3rd (Juventus Runners Up - 1st)
Porto - 1st
Liverpool - 4th (Milan Runners Up - 1st by default)
Barcelona - 1st
Milan - 3rd
M United - 1st
Barcelona - 1st
Inter - 1st
Barcelona - 1st

Only on 3 occasions did a champion not reach the final, one of which was the one United won in 99.

I have looked it up and even with the ban.Man United would have only qualified for the European Cup if 4 sides had been allowed in from 1969-1985 on 5 occasions and this includes their relegation in 1974.

You are using just 2 German sides.

You are forgetting about the horrific excuses for football teams you played.

Jeunesse Esch
Crusaders
Bye
Dynamo Dresden
OPS
Dundalk
Lech Poznań

Just some of the mighty clubs Liverpool faced. I have not included the dross that other teams faced but if I quote scores of 17-0 and double figure scorelines being common place then it gives you an idea. Many of the sides no longer exist either and champions of countries who frankly are no better than pub teams littered the European Cup.

So we are back to the classic "euro cup was easy to win" nonsense from manu fans, no matter how many times I have seen this done I have never seen the answer to the obvious question;

If it was so easy to win, why did manu not win more?

because we didnt win the league...........Waterford United of ireland took out place you could say.

Simple isnt it. When only the league champions get in and not all european leagues are equal you have massive gulfs in class between 3 or 4 teams and the 20 or so others.
