I'd like Coates to go out on loan to a Champ team. Toughen him up and see if he can learn to cope with the more physical side of the game. I still think he's got potential but agree it will never be fulfilled sitting on the bench.
indeed. he's tall, rangy, looks and runs like alan hanson... but he's totally flopped. He doesn't seem to have any confidence, the managers have never put him in a 4, its been 3 at the back to cover the guy.... bar europa. I think you are right confidence is a big thing. Hasn;t grasped the language in 2 years... thats sinful. looks weaker and less strong now than he did... again did he work in the gym... in short... I don't think he's work hard enough. I would loan him but would not be shocked if nobody took him.
A lad with his frame has potential to become a monster, but as you said, seems weak. Considering he doesn't have other significant physical traits, for instance pace, you would expect him to work to his strengths. He should be the beast defender that out muscles, out jumps, barges players around since he wont be able to run with them. I question whether he is right material for team, given he hasn't bothered with the language, hasn't bothered with conditioning, isn't eager to play.
You're right, there are ways to deal with a player who's bigger and stronger than you. Foolishly I thought that's what we had coaching staff for- to improve on our players' natural abilities and instil them with a little game intelligence. Personally, I think Skrtel's a decent player and with the right coaching could improve further. When he came on as sub in one of the friendlies it was noticeable how strongly he attacked the ball- something we lack imo. As for Coates- I'm bemused and disappointed with him. As you say he doesn't seem to have any appetite to play.
indeed. I think skertl is very decent, but not a guy you could hang your hat on beside agger. you want hyppia beside agger... or hyppia beside skertl. i actually think skertl is quite good as a carragher role of sweeping up behind a big man but it seems rodgers doesn't rate him in terms of organsiation. I don't know.... coates i do not get. i thought uraguay was a hard league with tough tackling but he seems to have a much less physical approach and desire. I really thought we was going to be really really great, dissappointed also here.
should we not change "close to" in all these transfer rumours to read... "might be thinking about" we've been close to... on what 50 players this summer...
and plays LM/LW? yes, yes that is him. Think he will be used higher up the field but backup/comp for JE? Not sure what happened with the cissokho deal, maybe cold feet on not being a guarenteed starter?
