At least he paints a picture from the Spurs point of view and shows some sympathy for our position. The Bitish media seems very keen to export one our greatest talents which when you think about it is a bit odd. You might expect some level of support for the 'Home team and British football in general. The league that generates the stories that pay their wages.
It's a symptom of modern society (says me the older guy). Everything is short term, be it political thinking, investment, news, I want it now etc. These journalists only care about the next story, even if it means that story being one tiny step in damaging their profession and income source in the future. I'm not sure that it is, but the point is that they wouldn't care. If they can post something sensational today instead of a considered article next week they will do everything for today. I was going to say that you don't find much long term thinking anymore in any field, but actually you don't find much medium term thinking either!
Or that the (younger) people who do think medium/long term aren't in a position to influence anything because the here-and-now brigade get all the say/votes/important jobs/etc. Thats kinda how i feel and i have dailly battles at work regarding such things and basically never win no matter how many "i told you"'s i get in further down the line. Ho hum.
Er - not much talk of this elsewhere: " Tottenham have reportedly struck a deal for highly-rated Steaua Bucharest defender Vlad Chiriches. Romanian media outlets are confidently reporting this morning that a £6.9m fee has been agreed with Bucharest and that the 23-year-old will now travel to London for a medical and to agree terms. One report has Romanian League president Dumitru Dragomir saying: "Deal done, player sold to Spurs." Tottenham were not initially looking for any more central defenders but an injury to Jan Vertonghen, that could see him miss the start of the season, has persuaded Spurs to make their move for Chiriches who has also attracted interest from Chelsea and Manchester City. Steven Caulker is also attracting interest from Cardiff City and it is believed the clubs are not far away from agreeing an £8m deal. Chiriches has 18 caps for his country and Romania coach Piturca has backed the move, saying: "He is a great player. "I hope he can establish himself in England with Tottenham. We have had many examples of players who have failed to establish themselves and have lost their place in the national team." Speaking to Dolce Sport, Piturca added: "It will not be easy, even if he is extremely good. I am sure he will be able to [establish himself], but it will not be easy because opponents in England are extremely good and must perform very well from game to game. His quality is tremendous." http://www.haringeyindependent.co.uk/sport/10581852._/ So do the Romanian national coach and the Haringey Independent know something everyone else doesn't? I mean I've seen it mentioned elsewhere but not with as much substance as this. And how would a new CB fit into the squad? We're gonna need to start selling players soon...
that was posted yesterday lenny, but only by a journalist from Bucharest. he used quotes from the director of Steau saying "a deal has been done with tottenham, but no other media source i reporting it as done. - All others just say "interested in" at the moment.
They have got better. They are suggesting we'll replace Bale with Suarez. As amusing as it would be to gazzump the Goons, I don't want that thug anywhere near WHL's home dressing room.
i dislike Suarez SO much (racism, biting, dirty little stamping, volleying people in the abdomen etc) that such a move would test my support for Spurs.
Can you imagine how pleased Modric would be to come back to us!! He would get a lovely reception as well!! In all seriousness if we managed to sell Bale and get Modric, Di Maria and Coentrao plus cash that would be incredible. Only downside would be how motivated they would all be to play for us. Top that off with Soldado and say Remy and bobs your uncle, jobs done!
Very good sign Harry Redknapp calling us a selling club... Well Harry.... **** off. My most hated manager ever and cant believe he was given the spurs job. If we had AVB in charge of the squad Harry had we'd have been challenging for the title. ______________________________________________ Edit ______________________________________________ Whoops it was Jamie Redknapp - still hate Harry.
i can't imagine we want modric. We've just broken our transfer record for Paulinho, spent £15m last summer on Dembele and Sandro is just ****ing awesome. How many central mids do we need?
Ah it was Jamie haha. Well harry can **** off anyway http://www1.skysports.com/football/...-85m-offer-for-gareth-bale-too-much-to-resist
Surprised about your feelings towards Harry. He's publicly said Bale should stay. His son is an anti-spurs weasel, but Harry has always been supportive.
