Danny Graham has scored goals, he scored 20+ for Watford I think? Everyone of our other strikers are unproven or have a point to prove?
Benteke scored almost goal ever other game. In the 2011/12 season he scored 17 in 36 for Standard and then Genk. Not sure where you're getting your 8 from. Van Persie always scored prolifically, he just never played as he got injured about every 5 matches he played. Everyone knew he would be ace if he ever managed to avoid injury for a season, which he was. It was bloody obvious watching him and I paid very little attention to the PL at the time. Graham, well yeah that was my point, but he was hardly prolific for Swansea. 12 in 36 in his first Swansea season is great and just what we need and pretty much reflective of his higher scoring rate at Watford. A bit like Austin scoring lots then scoring well but at a lower rate in the PL. Not really a big punt.
I'm sure Benteke scored 8 for Genk. You can't say if Van Persie wasn't injured he would have scored loads. He was injured, so he didn't.
Okay, last comment on this one as I feel like I'm talking to Tickler. Benteke scored more than 8 for Genk. He scored 1 in every two games for them. However many times you say he scored 8 it doesn't actually make it true. I can say that about Persie as when he wasn't injured he scored ****ing loads. If you take out his last season with Arse, he scored 95 in 226 since he joined in 2004/05. ****ed if I know what you consider prolific if that isn't.
Linked with Morgan Amalfitano again today in The Sunday People: messaged the sports journo who wrote it. We put in a loan offer (hence why we were first linked to Amalfitano in the Daily Mail), now Olympiakos have shown an interest in buying him, as he's available on the cheap. This has changed Bruce's bid from a loan to a permanent apparently. He said we're "trying it" and "have got a chance". Asked about Djebbour - he said he's a difficult one to know if anyone is actually in for him or not. Said he's been available for over 2 months now with no interest. Says Olympiakos have offered him to every club who will listen to them.
Which is why Genk could command a price of £7m from Villa. We haven't got £7m to splash out on a striker so what is your point?
Ibrahim and Palacios/Cattermole would be very useful. That leaves us a few million to spend on the mystery striker plus two loanees from Utd and Chelsea. McGregor Chester Davies Figueroa Elmo Meyler Palacios Ibrahim Brady Aluko Graham looks like a very strong Championship team.
