I don't think we need another striker, I feel we had too many. 4 is good enough but 5 was one too many.
Judging by the pre-season games (goals scored) it's a good move, now the other strikers might stand a chance of getting a goal. All the best Adam, hope it goes well.
Strange that there is no recall clause in the contract, this shows that we defiantly are looking at letting him go and that we don't just want to loan him out, see if he does well and keep him. http://www.gillinghamfootballclub.com/news/article/martins-birchall-message-955275.aspx#KTQRZvpmH34dO8QW.99
I don't get the no recall clause. Who knows what could happen before the end of year with injuries etc, also if Birchall suddenly becomes the player he was before the injury and we struggle for goals we may want / need him back sooner. Also surely Dartford weren't in the position to demand a no recall clause.
I think we will sign another striker, maybe on loan. I think we need 4 (i don't think you can count Weston as a striker). Last season we didn't really play 4-4-2, but with the signing of Cody and Bayo I think that is how we will go this season and therefore the manager will want two alternatives if Bayo and cody are injured or not playing well
And there's young Tom Derry, Nathan Nyafil and Aaron Millbank ready to plug the gap, we are more than covered for the forwards front. We need another midfielder!
I reckon Adam asked for it/we decided it was best so that we don't knee jerk and bring him back to sit on the bench should Cody or another striker get injured. Hopefully he can go away and rediscover his natural goal scoring that made everyone jump for joy that we signed him.
Jokey....I'm with you. I'm sure that there is still a good stiker in Adam....he needs to rediscover the mental side of his game. It was an awful injury and to even be playing is a plus. He has done prety well in pre season. I would not write him off just yet.
If we don't see you again Adam,(hope we might though) you can remember your equaliser against New York Cosmos as a fitting swan song to your Gills career. Good luck up the A2. Happily you have now returned to the beautiful game after all your dedicated effort to regain your fitness. Enjoy the rest of your career. Take Care & Good Luck!
