A big part of life on a football forum is cross team banter but at times banter can become OTT wuming and that then spoils debate for many, many fans. When this happens members tend to do one of two things, log off and slowly the board dies then the forum or a slanging match starts that often decends to pure abuse.

I then get complaints and eventualy have to ban the offender from a particular board or in some cases the forum, neither is a course I want to take.

All can be avoided by posting and debating on your own teams board and making the occasional trip to other boards to debate and indulge in some gentle banter.

Or having banter threads in each teams own part of the site?

We are not arsed on here anyway, if it bothers people then the internet isnt for them in all fairness as much like the world its a big bad place. KPR is annoying but because hes a moron.

I think chatbox is becoming the banter forum but a banter thread is down to you, if you want one then post it. That said I dont think anyone is aginst banter, its when banter becomes a pain in the arse.

 

Like syd says, if someone wants to create a banter thread then that's great, we all love a bit of banter. Likewise, if people want a bit of a wum that's fine, as long as it's at least slightly funny and / or original. For example, I thought this one was quite good:

The problem comes when people take it too far and invade serious threads just to wum, or wum with the same old "hur hur, your team is ****". Then you piss people off, they start abusing you and wumming back and before you know it we've turned into 606 and 90% of the threads are just pointless and tedious.
