FOOTIE badboy Marlon King was arrested following a hit-and-run smash which left a man in hospital with head injuries, The Sun can reveal. The Birmingham City striker, previously jailed for sexual assault, was held after a collision near Londonâs West End. He was detained by officers from City of London Police on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of an accident before being released on bail until September. A source said: âThe guy was hit by a car, possibly a Mercedes, not far from Paddington station. He got a knock to the head but the driver didnât stop to see if he was OK. âThe police were called pretty quickly.â Sources said the accident happened yards from the train station in the early hours of Saturday. Cops launched an immediate investigation and King, 33, was arrested in nearby Lancaster Gate. Last night the footballerâs agent confirmed he was aware of the incident but declined to comment further. Kingâs arrest came just hours after Championship side Birmingham confirmed he was being handed a free transfer. The forward â jailed for 18 months in 2009 for sexual assault and ABH â is thought to be in talks with three clubs over a possible move. Scotland Yard is now investigating the crash. Last night a force spokesman said: âA 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic collision and taken to a central London police station. âHe has been bailed pending further inquiries. Detectives from Westminster are investigating.â

Birmingham City striker Marlon King has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash that left a man injured. The crash happened near London's West End at 00:06 BST on Saturday. Police were called to Bishops Bridge Road at the junction with Eastbourne Terrace over reports that a car had struck a pedestrian. The man, aged in his late 40s, was taken to a central London hospital with a head injury. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. The Metropolitan Police said the vehicle failed to stop at the scene. A Met spokeswoman said: "A 33-year-old man was subsequently arrested by officers from City of London Police on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic collision and taken to a central London police station. "He has been bailed to mid-September pending further inquiries." A spokesman for Birmingham City said the club was aware of the incident. King, whose previous clubs include Watford, Middlesbrough and Coventry City, is reportedly available on a free transfer and in talks with other Championship clubs about a possible move.
