He could maybe be ok in the Championship, but I maintain that he's very average imo. Agree to differ eh?
Our team is full of average players while Barton has more fighting spirit than majority of them. Thats why i dont think he is very average player. Arrogant yes.
I tend to agree with Igor, Barton's tenacity is something we sorely missed last season, in the Championship he'd be in his element, as long as he's committed...
The thing is, we all will have encountered somebody like Joey Barton at some point in our lives: that unpleasant little gobshite in the pub looking for somebody minding their own business to start something with, that irksome little runt with that "what are you looking at?" menace hanging around street corners, that incorrigible pain in the arse with nothing to offer but infamy and meaningless trouble. The behaviour is inexcusable, unnecessary and predictable. The brain is incorrectly wired, the childhood schooled in hate, ignorance and a doctrine of 'aggression trumps reason'. There is no hope. They are what they are, and to believe a conversion of Damascean proportions in their behaviour is possible is to hope that Elvis is still alive and deep sea fishing in the North Sea with Glenn Miller.
Absolutely this. Most refs are going to love to send him off too. This is the main reason I think we are best shot of him, that and all the other baggage he brings. On his playing abilty only I agree with Igor, he's not an International player but certainly would be an asset in the Championship if he wasn't a walking red card.
I know its wrong, but I ****ing love Barton was cheering when he went for afters at city, after sending off. Sorry just being honest, rather that than the passionless bastards I watched last season.
If everyone had my 'attitude' they wouldn't put themselves in a position to be booed. You'll also notice that I never mentioned that I would want or applaud any of the above you have mentioned. In some cases a silent protest can be just as effective as someone who boos. Maybe even more so. Just for the record, I don't want to see Barton play for our club ever again. Nor did I want Bosingwa to either. But I still wouldn't boo them if they did.
