I was actually a fan of Skrtel. Not his best of seasons last year but he didn't have much of a chance to play in a thriving team which gained more confidence as the season wore on. I admired the way he was always up for the fight and protected our players - e.g. when we played Oldham/Mansfield and that lump Matt Smith knocked Brad Jones over. Skrtel came running over and squared up to him. Nice to see that passion and fight in our players.

actually coates got battered and skertl... being a wuzz and not marking the guy had to take over and looked very displeased to have to do so but managed it ok.
If Skrtel struggle against Matt Smith, I say he got battered! A player with 80 odd games for Zenit, 151 for Liverpool, 60 odd for his country (thanks Billy) should be able to handle a League One player!
