Italian website Leggo has linked Martin Skrtel with renewed interest from Napoli and ex-Reds boss Rafa Benitez. The defender's future has been uncertain this summer, although that has not materialised into any firm offers. However Leggo suggests Skrtel would be in favour of the switch after Pepe Reina moved to the Italian club and his national team captain Marek Hamsik also plays in Napoli. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spor...ews/liverpool-fc-transfer-rumour-mill-5383582
can't expect much more, everyone knows he's not our first choice CB for the coming season and he wasn't last season either. Perhaps last summer we would have got more before his form slumped a bit
Yep, I don't rate SKrtel at all but even I think that is cheap. However, I think he is that bad that I'd snap their hand off at that
80 odd games for Zenit, 151 for Liverpool, 60 odd for his country (captain too), peak of his career age wise etc...You've got to be ****ting me he's only worth £7 mill. In todays market you can't get **** for that kind of cash for a Prem defender.
Unless where bringing in a monster of a cb i don't see the point in selling Skertl, i don't think hes as bad as people make him out to be. He may not be top class but i can think of much worse playing in the prem today. I also think him and Agger had a very good partnership but when the defense took a dip in form Skertl took the brunt of the criticism while Agger came away relatively unscathed.
Why are bid so big and cumbersome? All summer, in the papers you hear phrases like bids are being prepared or that a club is getting ready to submit a bid..... I mean, you think of a number, and get on the phone, what is there to prepare? OK when it comes to the haggling part, there will be back and forth, but just making an initial enquiry should be a 2 minute piece of piss. Because if the press were to actually have this information and not just pulling it out of their collective arses, the longer part of the process of identifying and monitoring and valuing the player would have already happened. I always roll my eyes when I see headlines like this one. Total bullshit.
People being a tad harsh on Skrtel here - he has made the odd mistake like all defenders but he's also saved our arse's many times. I like him, real old fashioned no nonsense defender. It wasn't long ago he was being admired by all, or at least most. His passion for the game and our club is clear to see. Worth far more than 7mil imo.
Sounds like you found him taking your missus up the ****ter! Skrtel the turtle is a good defender, all this talk of him being ****, is bandwagon jumping. It was only 12 months ago, that we were all playurising all the Chuck Norris jokes for him being an absolute monster. i think people have very short memories. I'm more than happy to keep the turtle around. It was only 12 months ago, that Johnston couldn't defend to save his life, but he's got over that dip, and he's solid. I fail to see why Turtle can't have a chance to get back to top form.
Trust me, I'm not jumping on any bandwagon! Surprised you've not noticed me moan about him before now? I have not rated him for a long time but I did hold my hands up and say he was superb in the 2011-12 season but it is the odd one out as far as I am concerned! He is definitely worth more than £7m though I've always defended Glen Johnson too. I think he is a much better defended than people give him credit for. Yes, he is caught out of position but, quite simply, he can't be in two places at once. If we want him to be attacking then you have to expect him to leave gaps. Nobody praises him when he covers the CB's arses either.
