There's more than one way to collapse a deal. He did it to Chelsea, he fulfilled Modrics wish by listening to Chelsea, thats all he ever agrees to do, so the player can't then say he's gone back on anything. A price and terms have been offered, but not met. Sorry Gareth, yes RM did come in for you but couldn't afford you, now would you like some more wages on your existing contract which we could work with a release clause for next summer, or do you want to stay on 70k (or whatever it is).

I do like Levy's style, Madrids offer has been there a week! <laugh>

"Perez, shove your world record bid up yer arse...gotta go its my turn on the jetski."

I think its a misprint mate, 9 would be more realistic and probable, the 0 shouldn't be there I think.

That would be great Roo. Perhaps not as brash, but more likely he could start calling a series of press conferences. Have all the worlds media turn up at Spurs lodge (or wherever) and then use them announce trivialities like kits, the arranging of a friendly, the fact he had a good **** earlier etc etc

This reminds me of that George W Bush clip "now watch this drive!". I'll try and find it....

Oh, I've chosen my words carefully, Perez. Perhaps you should have done the same!
This is blasphemy! This is madness!
    Madness...?

Problem with this argument its one extreme to the other.

We wouldn't spend our entire £90m on their wages. Their yearly wage would be offset by our yearly revenue the same way it is for every other player we sign. You don't say Adebayor cost us £30m instead of £5m because of his wages / contract do you?

Even if the ITK's a right, i cant imagine it'd happen. They wouldn't deal with us unless they knew they were getting Bale.

    LOL!

"Read this thread, we are crazy."

There are only so many ways you can sensibly say to the bitters and haters that
    Bale is not being sold.

    But nonetheless they are.
This obsession with getting Bale, now or with first refusal in the future,
is playing into Levys' hands. The money owed on Modric just makes it worse.

Caulker has been linked with a move to Cardiff today. I wonder if there's some truth in that?
We didn't see much of him last season and I'd question whether he's part of AVB's plans. He was a bit frozen out, when there were times where he was the obvious replacement, yet we chose to play Gallas.

    thoughts?

    "thoughts?"

Better have 2 decent CBs lined up then, given the Kaboul and Verty situation.

Apparently Real Madrid have been trying for a week to bid for Bale but our fax machine is "out of order".

Caulker was often left out of cup games because Villas-Boas didn't want to risk him getting injured and leaving us without suitable cover for the league, bizarrely.
Liverpool made a bid for him at the start of the season, but we weren't interested and put a big figure on him.
He needs to start a lot more regularly this season, in my opinion.

the rumoured replacement is this guy

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vlad_Chiricheș

Edit: There's even people saying Chiriches is done! Jesus... silly season is even worse this year!! <doh>

Also this on Soldado: (nothing interesting, just thought I'd share)

    http://www1.skysports.com/football/...et-roberto-soldado-quiet-over-valencia-future

Valencia forward Roberto Soldado is remaining tight-lipped about his possible move to Tottenham.

The London side have made the 28-year-old forward one of their top transfer targets this summer and are believed to be in negotiations with the Spanish team at the moment.

Valencia are believed to want the full £26m needed to trigger a release clause in the contract of Soldado, who netted 30 goals in 46 appearances last season.

And Spurs are believed to be confident of landing the Spanish international but the player himself is refusing to comment on the prospective move.

"I do not know what is going on at the moment," he said. "At the moment, I cannot say anything.

"We will wait to see what happens. When the right time comes, I will speak, as I always have done."

Spurs have already signed Brazilian midfielder Paulinho and Belgian winger Nacer Chadli this summer and will be hoping to make Soldado their third acquisition.

I've already said elsewhere I'm disappointed Caulker didn't kick on from his Swansea year. He's had a good run of gametime early on aswell with our injury situation, so no-one can say that, but he has been error prone and some have been costly. He has played very well in spells during games I agree, but he's been inconsistant unfortunately imo. He's beginning to look like another good player, but not a top4 first teamer.

I hope not,i rate Caulker aand i think the reason Gallas plyed a lot last season could be because they though Caulker was 'nt quite ready for a full P/Lseason
