I take it that's some sort of air cooled rim to help keep the tyres working? Hollow and with a good flow of air I imagine it also protects from brake heat as well, clever :)

Red Bull had something similar banned last year because the FIA said that because the wheels move it's a moveable aerodynamic device. Nice consistency FIA. <applause>

It isn't new either, they've had it the whole season.

I hope he beats Vettel if he's the star again, the internet will explode and I'll just be sitting here watching the Vettel fans kill themselves.

I was just thinking the same. What is WEC doing right that F1 is not?

    racing!

That and in WEC the focus is on the car, not Pirelli or the drivers.

Yeah, but the LMP1 category is basically just who can lose to Audi the best. I don't think that makes sense, but i'm hung over, so bear with me.

LMP1 = Audi's playground. Good luck beating them. Toyota have tried and so far failed, the new Porsche LMP1 doesn't excite me much, if F1 is anything to go by, the new Ferrari LMP car will be hopeless, but have at least 1 awesome driver that makes the car look better than it is.

do you think a seat will be kept warm for Massa, Fisico, De La Rosa, Badoer. Hey lets even get JV in for the triple crown?

I think they'd probably go with Fisichella, Bruni and De La Rosa, as they have sportscar experience.

More open development and development that translates to road-cars would be my guess.

Makes you wonder... If Ferrari went there and were successful, could that bring about the end of their F1 outfit?

No, they used to juggle both in the past. Can't see why they won't be able to manage both today

Yes, Bhaji: At least part of Ferrari's thinking in returning to Le Mans is that, in the wake of F1's reversion to smaller engines, they can still showcase a sizeable, multi-cylinder unit more befitting their road car marketing strategy.

Call me a heretic but I think F1 would be better off without Ferrari! It would give a chance to revert to the level playing field of its earliest days. However, I agree with Gruber and do not see this happening. I also think he's in the right ball-park with drivers, although I'll stop short of full agreement. Actually, something I'd be particularly interested to see would be how Massa would (or would not) cope with a hi-tech Sportscar for 24 hours …
    ;)
