who knows. this is england an in england when a side see a small guy at full back they park a guy over there and hit long balls cross field. also rodgers was using pepe to dink balls to enrique and Johnson rather than clear it down field and lose it due to height. enrique is not tall but not short either..... It seems to me that if barrett is back on the papa line then there might be a sniff of something. I would expect skertl to move cos rodgers had made his situation untenable.. 7-10mil would be cheap but there you go... rodgers dropped the guy but he is on a long contract so now is the time to sell if you are selling.... but get 12-15mil.
Selling Skrtel and paying a few extra mill to get Papa would be great business - lets hope it happens
my view on this is all things being equal you are right BUT I am extremely put off by this guy being crocked and the fact we've bought two crocks before and it was disastrous (carroll and aquilani) I hope we are wathcing thier preseason and seeing him back to playing. I think we could run this one for a while and bid later on in the window. i think that would be wiser.
Is he injured alot or is it that he's just injured at the moment? If its the first then yes I see a problem with signing him, but if its just a current injury then hopefully long term I don't see a problem. Carroll's injury was never really the failing, its that he didn't fit with the club and the players bought to supply him were/are ****. Aquaman on the other hand was a definite mistake of buying an injury prone player that didn't really want to be here.
I may be wrong but I believe that is his first serious injury - very serious considering he was injured late last year and he's only just come back. I'm sure our medical team will carry out an extensive medical before we decide to sign him.
To make this almost the perfect summer transfer window: Papa - CB sorted. Luis Muriel/Jackson Martinez - striker/attacker. If were to get these 2 players, they could take us to the next level.
jackson is supposedly rafa top target at napoli are you sure you don't want darren bent and a loan lb instead? Papa is a serious knee injury that he had at least one set back on already.. carroll was a serious injury that took how long to sort? (is it even sorted) aquilani was an ankle that was supposed to be all fine right up onit he miseed more than 3 month extra and cost rafa his job. Its a risk, he cannot be fit to play maybe and who knows.... but then if its toure and agger at the start and this guy to come in for 12mil thats ok... but F me if he's 20mil its a disaster.
Can't really think of any other top CB's that would be willing to come. Papa has already stated that he wants to join LFC and even saw us play last season. I understand that he's a risk - but he's already emerging as one of the best young CB's out there already with the potential to become world class. At such a young age, he already has a wealth of experience and played for some big teams as well as playing on the biggest stages - CL. Not only this, his stats are amongst the best across the bundesliga (prior to his injury), a league which boasts the likes of Dante, Hummels, Subotic etc. He's also a leader, he's vocal and he's full of passion and pride - we desperately lack that leadership at the back, especially now that Carra and Reina have gone. Finally, he's an outstanding CB but he can also play as DM which would provide solid back up to Lucas. As much as his injury is concern, the above positives should be more than enough to take the punt (IF he passes the medical with no real problems).
Its not that I don't share your concerns but the position we are currently in, this is the sort of market we have to by circulating in. It is a gamble that would be great if it pays off but another Carroll / Aquilani if it didn't.
Jackson Martinez's agent has said that JM has agreed terms with Napoli but Porto don't want to sell. His release clause is £35m ...
i think we need to leave the injured alone to recover. We've been bitten twice, lost 17mil minimum on aquilani not to mention wages and we lost 20 odd mil not to mention wages on carroll. If we do this again we are going to be look at a disaster zone. Our medics have not proved they can asses this. Thats why i say wait for a while and see if he's playing again. Oh and alderweireld is so desperate for his move he's even said he doesn't need CL.... i do not question in the slightest your view on the player... i just fear repeating the same disasters that cost us the majority of two transfer window funds. put it this way we pissed just about all the suarez potential fee up against a wall on two players wh owere unfit and never got back. I see the risk of someone else snapping him up, that's certainly there. I'd rather us find hyppia in a lesser club than a 20mil quoted injured star.
rafa revolution continues.... you gotta love what he's going and doing over there even with pangs of jealousy.... 55mil take in ontop of a very talented outfit and now they've spent it well.
This summer will be a complete failure if we don't replace Downing with Hulk!! I'm starting to get a bit nuts over transfers now. You go on NewsNow and see about 10 new names linked each day, but nothing is actually happening. I think we are now in the stupid situation that we have to sell before we buy, and either our dross doesn't want to leave us (Downing) or no-one is interested (Spearing). Come on Liverpool, ****ing do something!!!!!!
good shout there... he's too old but he's the only guy floating out in space (russia) and not subject of massive money bids. I think you are a freaking genius.. get this swap done!
Well I know stuff is happening, but it's all the boring behind the scenes stuff, I want an actual signing to be happening, as any player we now get will not get a decent pre-season, and we'll be at a disadvantage, against the likes of Man U and Arsenal, who have both done all their transfer work earlier (snigger)
so what's your mate saying then? you gave us a tidbit on reina on the other thread re rodgers feelings. surely he's got something for us on non suarez stuff.
breaking news the greeks are saying 16 mil euors fee is now agreed. http://www.sport-fm.gr/article/pianei-limani-o-kuriakos/690515 not sure its FACT or wishful thinking here but if we have agreed a fee of 13-14mil here its not disasterous. then http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/fo...ss-Rafa-Benitez-eyeing-deal-for-Martin-Skrtel they say its an italian newspaper making up the link again fee mentioned is 13mil so one out one in.... all done within a week of each other again? ow to zero net spends but a risk taken.
