Having missed out on Gary Hooper, who ended up moving to Norwich City, QPR might be more determined than ever to keep hold of Loic Remy this summer. However the striker is likely to be keen on a return to the Premier League, and reports have so far indicated that QPR would be willing to sell the striker if they receive a fee similar to the £8million they paid for him in January. Newcastle United and West Ham United appear to be leading the race for the 26-year-old, but with Tottenham Hotspur previously linked with a move for Remy, should QPR try and do a deal with Spurs that involves Andros Townsend? The 22-year-old enjoyed an excellent loan spell at Loftus Road in the second half of last season, scoring twice in twelve games and quickly becoming a fanâs favourite. As a result, Townsend is expected to be part of Andre Villas-Boasâ first team plans next year, but if QPR were prepared to accept the winger, either on loan or in a permanent switch, as part of a deal for Remy, Spurs might consider the move, or even bring Remy in on loan themselves given his legal situation. Remy can play anywhere across a front three, which Villas-Boas is expected to use next season as part of a 4-3-3, and is perhaps more suited to the formation than Townsend. With the 22-year-old set to be a back-up at Spurs regardless of Gareth Baleâs future, he might well be happy to spend another year at least at QPR. Given that he has now impressed in the Premier League, Townsend could feel that he has to be playing regular first team football next year to continue his development. At 22, he is hardly old, but in footballing terms he is at an age where he needs to either make an impact at Spurs, or leave. QPR could be the perfect destination, as although the Championship is a tricky division, they have the resources to come straight back up. Townsend could have a year settling into the side before returning to the Premier League as a more experienced player.
No harm in the making the offer, although I can't help but think Townsend's future is dependant on whether Bale stays at the club. If we have Andros in our squad we look a lot stronger
I feel that Remy would be better for our upcoming season than Townsend but Townsend would be a better long term signing for us. So I'm not sure really. I think I'd rather keep Remy to get us up and then find another player later or even sign Townsend later.
