Looks like Lorenzo Melgarejo is set to join us on loan. I do hope he is brought in as a LW, and we still get Cissokho as LB.

A few Portuguese journos who watch Benfica regularly say that he is a horrendous left back and should be shifted to LW which is where he is most dangerous. I think he has spent most of his career (bar one season) as LW so playing LB is a relatively new to him. Could have potential.
well he can't be as bad as downing but then he's sent on loan with a view to buy which can only mean those journos are probably right. We'll see I think its an assiadi swap. seeing we've two young winders i'm not sure we really need him but perhaps cissohko deal is gone.
Apparently there is a hold up over his wages. Not sure if he's asking for more which would be ridiculous as we would only be entitled to pay what he's on currently at Valencia. If he could replicate his form at Porto and Lyon, then he'd be a great option.

Yep - disappointing if true. Can't be dealing with players like that. Edit - he has a chance to regain his form and show everyone that he is a top class defender. We're giving him a great platform to perform.

Some media outlets - nothing reliable I don't think I think the fee is rumoured to be around £7-10m. Personally think he's worth more.
Lorenzo Melgarejo medical appears to be booked in for tomos. Reporter from the Times (can't remember his name) says a deal for Papa is becoming increasingly likely - LFC have been waiting for the swelling on his knee to clear which it has now. The sticking point is still the fee. Re. the fee - I'm guessing we will be more flexible once we sell Skrtel.

I dont think his height is to big an issue in our system. As long as he is quick, strong and very brave. You could say your put off transfers after Andy Carroll. Loan deals are safe as they remove the risk of signing a player for a big fee them flopping and being sold for a loss.
