If, but, maybe and speculation, its all you've got. Here's a factual story though for you to pass a proper comment on, instead of your wild guesswork... http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/224259.html
Over the medium term, I think Bale can maintain his form. But I have the feeling he'll get hit with bad luck in the form of injuries next year.
You didn't mention that in your article rwaerb... http://sport.uk.msn.com/socialvoices/is-bale-bound-for-the-bernabowl678901
Not getting into this "will he, won't he" business. But I have advocated getting Bale back on the wings in the past year, rather than having a roving role upfront as I felt this unbalanced the team. However, I believe he has expressed a desire to continuing with this free role and if that's the case, I personally would be happy if Spurs sold him for £ms and only if Spurs managed to get top quality replacement(s) in. Despite the fantastic goals he scored last year, I don't think he was truly effective up front. I'm ducking behind the settee now to avoid the rotten tomatoes coming my way...
The thing is, who would you call a top quailty replacement, with our wage cap we would have to raise it a lot for a replacement, where as with Bale you can offer more without breaking the bank,Bale is unreplaceable IMO,at the moment
But aren't Spurs willing to break the pay cap in the hope of encouraging Bale to stay? I think recall reading (more speculation i Know!) that Spurs will offer something like £170k per week to Bale? But I do agree that Spurs may find it difficult to find a top quality replacement and if that's the case, Spurs should fight tooth and nail to keep him, but only if he's happy to stay.
I try out my material here before taking it on the road... I did like "Watching Real Madrid Franchise Club try and get a new soccer player is like watching from across the bar as some sleazy rich guy tries to hit on someone's wife."
Well I started this close-season really believing bale should stay. And if he wanted to stay i guess I'd still think that. Shame that Bale is going to be just another modern footballer but there you go. He could become an absolute legend at Tottenham. Have streets named after him like Le Tiss at Southampton. As it is he'll be just another cog in a giant machine that wins a few medals and would do if he were there or not. Right now here's one thought I've been having - there's less risk in having three players worth 80-100m than one. Imagine if Bale gets a serious injury this season. Sort of "eggs and baskets" argument.
Lenny I imagine that the the serious injury risk has crossed the mind of Bale and his people. They may be advising him to go for the Real offer while it is there as next season may never come. Who knows! I suspect it wont be long before something breaks. As I have said, Spurs will win whatever happens. At the heart football is a team game and we have a talented squad who will express themselves well, even if he does go. OK let's sell Bale and win the league without him.
Everyone's been saying where we'll get the money from for the stadium, yet some here think its not too bad if we sell him. Bale is now worth millions commercially aswell as his valuation, I'd predict the next 12months to be a bumper year, so for the club its important he stays. He was quoted a couple of months ago that he's only 23 (at the time) and was in no rush.
I agree with you it is very important that he stays and Levy understands this only too well. We have been attacked in this way a number of times in recent years, Carrick, Berbatov, Modric and each time we have gone on to improve the squad. Of course if we had all those players now and Bale we would be serious contenders, but those above us want to keep it that way and will plunder if they can. Much as we plunder the likes of West Ham and Southampton. I hope that Levy wins this battle, he's the best man for the job, if he can't do it then I don't know who could.
no man is bigger than the mighty spurs as long as he don't do a judas and go to the gooners i say take the money,no point keeping him if like the media says he wants away.i was gutted when the likes of hoddle and gazza left but the club still survived.bale is a class act no doubt but can he have a better season than last who knows but i doubt it.
Hey Rocky Blue why don't we see you more often on the Spurs board, you can't be that busy at Wycombe Wanderers. I used to see the famous Wycombe Wanderers when I supported Dulwich Hamlet as a kid they were the Man U of the Isthmian League, hated them!
back to bale i would love him to stay but he may get injured or lack of form or sulk cos he couldn't get a move, maybe now is the best time to sell.i don't believe the papers saying this and that about bale wanting to go, the truth will come out sooner or later but it would have been nice for bale to speak for himself and let the fans know the truth.
See what you're sayin but this is different with Bale, none of the previous were the 'face' of PL advertising. The weak link for me is his agent, i do not like the sound of him at all, but if he's got Bales ear with some BS (he stands to hit an agent fee jackpot here!) all of a sudden, I hope Levy has the answers. Thats the only scenario that bothers me atm.
I think I made clear what I think of agents earlier. From his creepy 'We are honoured to be approached by Real Madrid' it was clear where his interests lie. If the authorities outlawed the agent cut from transfers it would be a great improvement for the game. They can earn very very well from the players income without distorting the transfer market and souring relationships between clubs and between players and fans.
Only when Martin O'niell was the Manager, didn't often get the better of Sutton United On Gareth David Pleat has added his opinon,he thinks Gareth is to young and should stay at Spurs another year,he say's alot of players have moved abroad and very few have made a go of it,most returning within a year
Bbc breakfast reporting on this almost made me chuck-up my breakfast. No quotes again, the only fact they had was bale's parents being spotted........at WHL! Considering they were reporting contract discussions 3 days ago you would have thought they could tie that together but no it descended into "you'd go wouldn't you? You'd jumps at the chance". So much for impartiality eh?
For the third time (after which I may give up), can anyone who knows more about Ronaldo and Real tell me if Bale and Ronaldo can play in the same team. Considering the amount of time and effort discussing something that is almost entirely speculation, I'm surprised there is almost nil discussion by all this media and pundits about this rather important detail.
