Because most other teams' fans genuinely think our squad is terrible. I went on a Wet Sham forum to see what they thought of Snodgrass - vast majority of them thought he was pretty average, most felt he was significantly worse than Joe Cole and a bit worse than Vaz Te
The Bookies draw up their odds based on the placing of bets.It is possible that ours might move but they are based on the perception of an event. If you look where the money is going Stoke are being backed strongly at 10/3 whereas we are 3/1.That means a lot of people think they are better value than us.
Forget it Kent, for before long We´ll again be proving folk wrong, As each year we do So it´s nothing new That they carry on with the same song. OTBC
Maybe I'm biased, but I think our squad is starting to look much better than West Ham and a few others. But if they think Snodgrass is pretty average than they have no idea what they are talking about. But anyway, I don't mind being odd favourites to go down, makes it more enjoyable to prove everyone wrong again.
these are all the ideas i've got! Been out of the premier league a fair while Terrible form last couple of months of the season No 'stand out' performers in the medias' eyes Little ol' Norwich label No rich millionaire bankrolling us Poor form last year against bottom half teams (beating top half harder to replicate) New signings nearly all lack experience of EPL. Talisman Grant Holt has left, possible negative effect on team spirit. Too many new signings to gel in time. General perception that our players all achieved beyond expectations last two seasons, will slump soon. Because all clubs around us are making moves to strengthen at the moment. People don't have a very broad knowledge of football so just bet on the team they don't know to go down. Mcnally's ordered them to make us relegation candidates so he can put big manly bets on our survival, making us the money we need to buy bale.
I think our squad is much better than West Hams. The only obvious player I'd want is Joe Cole, I wouldn't want Nolan given the implications it would impose on us to play him.
It's quite clear they don't have a clue. We are all probably a bit guilty at times of seeing our players through yellow-tinted specs, but I don't doubt for a minute that Snodgrass is significantly better than Vaz Te.
By the way, we've been slowly drifting on odds for the last week or so, and have now moved to fifth from drop, swapping with Stoke.
true but that change is supported by one bookie pushing us to 4.5, the rest are pretty much lower than stoke. Only one other bookies has us on higher odds, 19 have us same or lower!
Neither do I, but he's one of the few British players I've admired over the years and could probably do a real good job for us.
I don't know what quite happened to Joe Cole, he is a player I have always admired and as a youngster I honestly thought he was going to be our next 'Gazza' in terms footballing ability. Yes, he's had a decent career and early a lot of money, but he's never quite lived up to his billing. I guess injuries haven't helped, he's always seemed to have the right attitude though so I'm surprised it never quite happened.
this article on his career in quotes is pretty sad reading actually. He sounds quite an emotionally weighed upon guy towards the end. this was him aged 18 “My biggest fear is not fulfilling my potential. Everyone’s got an opinion on how far I can go – but I know what I am going to do. I know what I can achieve, but I don’t want to tell anyone. It’s in my head and I am keeping it to myself. As long as I can fulfil that, I’ll be happy." and gerrard saying in 2010 “Messi can do some amazing things, but anything he can do Joe can do as well, if not better. He used to shock us in training by doing footy tricks with a golf ball that most players can’t even do with a football." http://www.byfarthegreatestteam.com...-full-quotes-from-west-ham-chelsea-liverpool/
Unfortunately a cruciate ligament rupture is incredibly difficult to repair completely. I suspect there were some complications with Cole's (no evidence for this, just suspicions based on my dad's comments as a surgeon). A noticeable loss of function to one leg coupled with a fragile self-belief caused a sorry decline. It's a measure of how good he is that despite the injury he sustained he is still able to compete, and play quite well, for the likes of Lille and Wet Sham. Same thing happened to Owen
Actually I am seeing it at 7/2 from Betway. We are drifting though so the general consebsus is that we have strengthened the squad.Stoke appear to have done nothing, add sparkless to the equation......
I'm surprised Sunderland and Newcastle aren't shorter as they seem car crashes waiting to happen (respective management teams) and both weren't far clear of relegation last year. Fulham looked old and poor towards the end of the season as well.
I think Newcastle will be back challenging for the top four once again after bringing in Mighty Mick Harford as Assistant Director of Football (or is he Assistant to the Director of Football? they really need to make that clear).
