There's a quote from the Valencia coach saying if some one puts in a good bid for Banega they will accept. I don't know how you can run a football team that has that big a debt. I also saw a article saying Atletico Madrid lost €115m in a season!

Why is it so difficult for some fans to realise that football is not about 11 players? I've been reading on here that some people don't want Banega because he plays in the same position as Ramirez or Ramirez plays worse in a different position, or isn't that where Jay rod plays..... We are about building a squad of quality players. Get then training and winning a place in the team, knowing that someone similarly as good is sniffing for their shirt. If someone is in the 11 and we have quality on the bench, then great, pull them off and give us another decent option. It really isn't difficult to understand. I hope we get Banega. If we do, that could leave Rickie/Jayrod/Mayuka fighting for CF, Punch/Adam/Jayrod/Mayuka/Guly/ Gaston fighting for wide positions, Gaston/Banega/Davis/Ward Prowse after AMC/10 spot and Victor/Corkie/Davis/Morgan for DCM. That reads like a squad with options.
This, this, this, this, this, this, this, this and this. Our biggest issue at the moment is breaking defences down. We need options, Banega being thrown into the mix would give us different ways to play. Also the way we play is going to burn our midfielders up, we were ok for injuries last year as the players had the courtesy to get injured one at a time, no guarantees it will be the same this season.
FLT....spot on! Squad strength and depth is vital, we were very thin last year and it was lucky we didn't get too many suspensions and injuries otherwise we would have been in a mess. With an improved squad we might even give the two cups a real go as we would all like a good run and even have a chance of silverware! We are not going to win the league but we can win a cup
I wouldnt mind seeing schneiderlin play the davis role with cork and wanyama cooperating. This would unleash ramirez and rodriguez to wreck havoc i feel. We have enough squad players for midfield. And i doubt we can attract anyone of banegas talent and pedigree so i would be happy to leave it as it is. Players like banega will come after another strong season or possibly even strong half season.
Valencia missed out on champions league football by 1 point, there is no conceivable chance he would come here. They may have financial troubles and if they want to sell him he will be sold to a top club not southampton. If we are 6th in january we probably still wouldn't be able to get him but would have a chance.
So because Valencia missed out on Champions League football he won't come to Saints? Celtic got into the CL so Wanyama shouldn't have wanted to join us either?
