Argentina don't have 23 CL players - league form in the second half of the season is more important

Christian Chucho Benitez reportedly killed in a car accident. Played for Birmingham circa 2009/10.

Apparently it was an illness. I understand the car crash thing is wrong. Complications following a burst appendix.

Sorry I meant 23 - plenty of space in their squad for non-CL palyers.

So you base ability on goals scored? How about watching the actual players and what they do with the ball? Bale may be better. But not by much.

Di Maria is a quality player though, have quite alot of spanish Madrid supporting friends who rate him very highly. He'd probably see it is quite a step back to go from Madrid to a team not even in the CL. I don't think its because of a WC year that he wouldn't want to be out of the CL, i just think he is a good enough player that he wouldn't want to lower his sights!

If Madrid weren't such c'unts I'd be happy if Arsenal had a punt at him. Impossible to do business with that Perez clown though, as we all saw with Higuain debacle.

No but it's a good indication for two forward players. It's not that Bale scored more it's that he scored so much more. Before last season they were at a similar level but right now Bale is substantially better and I think most of the footballing World agrees with me on that.

Di Maria does more for Real defensively than Bale does for Spurs, and does not have a free role in the team. In other words he has responsibilities. Bale's output, given this freedom, is not spectacular. He needs to be compared against similar players, Messi and Ronaldo, Mata and Tevez.

I think Bale is a scorer of great goals, but he is NOT a great goalscorer. IMHO not worth as much as most people think. He has a very poor assist total given this position.

No it isn't. Dante was selected for Brazil pretty much solely because of his CL performances.

Only 2 players scored more in the league last season, as for his worth he is worth whatever Spurs want to ask for him and then its up to any other club to meet that. Assist stats are the most pointless stats in football they prove very little, in my opinion. Also its not so long ago that everyone on this board was saying that Spurs were a one man team - that one man team managed to finish ahead of 15 x 11 man teams last season many of those cost well in excess of £80,000,000 to assemble so on that basis he could be easily worth that!

His worth will be determined by what they get. Not what they ask for.

By your logic, they can say he is worth £500m and you would agree that is what he is worth. <rofl>

    Football eh?

Football Fans Face Struggle To Be Sufficiently Furious In Time For New Season.

With only days to go before the football season kicks off, there are concerns that a combination of British sporting success and nice sunny weather will make it impossible for fans to muster the swivel-eyed malevolence necessary to follow the sport correctly.

“Pastimes like crown green bowls, golf and Rugby Union can foster a sense of well-being in the spectator which can take days or even weeks to leave the system,” said football scientist and Bolton Wanderers fan John Spinks, “For example I’ve spent the whole summer chilling in the conservatory, mojito in hand, bellowing out things like ‘Hey, nice shot Andy!’ or ‘Well bowled, that man!” so it will take a few games before I’m totally at home telling a youth team player that he’s a worthless f**king c**t.”

“I expect that many fans had the same problem after last summer’s unprecedented success in the Olympics. For the first few games I even let opposing players take corners without throwing coins at their heads.”

“I suppose it could be an age thing though. From match day one, my 9 year-old was furiously launching Starbursts at the fourth official.”

But Manchester City supporters club chairman Hector Matos was anxious to put minds at rest, “In the end, everyone is just as miserable in their jobs and resentful of their families as they were in May and these are issues that can only be properly resolved by screaming at a bald man with a whistle or punching a police horse in the face. If anything, these emotions have been unnaturally bottled up all summer and will erupt in a glorious frenzy of Munich chants and glassings.”

“It’ll be all go from the first whistle.”

No thats not what I am saying at all. I actually agree with you, his worth will be determined by what they receive but it appears from the rumours currently circulating that Real Madrid will come very close to meeting Spurs asking price so from that point of view I would be right too.
