Out of every player in the squad, Perch would have been the last player I'd have thought we'd have sold.

He probably wasn't on good wages, he was versatile, he was reliable, and we only got 700k for him? Why sell him then?

Perch was a player that Pardew showed a lot of faith in from the start when everyone else was calling him ****. Pardew gave him games and developed him.

He was versatile, never complained about being behind that **** Tiote, and always gave his all.

His sale makes no sense, all it says to me is that the person who decided to sell him didn't know how important he was to the team in comparison to the amount we could get for him.

700k? Who are we going to get for that? Replacing Perch would cost a good 2m at least.

So I don't buy this horseshit that Pardew has a significant say in matters really. He may throw in an opinion from time to time, but Perch's sale makes no sense from a footballing and business point of view.

If Pardew had a say, I'm sure he'd have weighed in with the fact that selling a player like Perch so cheaply is a horrible piece of business.

Even if Anita and Bigirimana do step up next season, Perch could still have been useful.

Pardew came the closest he has ever come to criticising the Newcastle hierarchy when discussing the sale of Perch. I suspect he is gradually being forced out of the club, and he is just trying to get the best exit deal he can, which you can't blame him for.

Did you hear him on Total Sport last week? To me, he sounded utterly fed up, and I don't blame him for that either.

It's not as if Perch will be adequately replaced. The way things are looking, and if injuries are similar to last season, fans turning up early enough might get a game.

it all depends on who is brought in.
I'll judge when the window shuts.
I'm nervous... yes... but trying to keep chilled for now.

Pardew has never had any power really. I honestly believe the only time he really kicked up a stink was when Harford was offered that job. Bollocks did he turn it down - it was too 'Jobs for the boy's' not to turn it down

Perch was told in January he was getting sold. Nothing to do with Kinnear.

Anita is a proper replacement, just needs to be used more, and properly. We have a lot of central midfielders and Perch was definitely surplus.

I agree, Perch was a player I respect and a good lad, but from a squad point of view we can easily live without him. Anita and Bigi lined up as back ups for DM, and loads of full backs. A bit of cash and get him off the wage bill, hopefully clearing the decks??

    Agree with you 100%,
I honestly can't believe the fans who are suddenly seeing Perch as some sort of saviour.
C'mon we can have a dig at JFK, but getting shot of Perch should be low on the agenda.

Perch was arguably our best player last season. It was dumb to have sold him for a pittance fee.

Had he stayed and continued his form, we would've risen in revolt to get him called up for England.

I can't see what the big deal is with this side of things. We know they like a continental type set up where the coach is basically there to sort out the match days etc, then working as part of a team for ins and outs. It is what it is and it works at plenty other clubs.

I'd have kept Perch but there is little point in getting too hung about his departure or how that came about.

To be fair it's not through choice that Gosling is still there. It's only because the Palace deal fell through he hasn't gone.

I think it's pretty clear that once we sell a player that Pardew brought to the club, he will probably quit.

    Obertan anyone?

Perch was useful from the perspective that he could cover many postions: central midfield, centre back and full back.
With Ryan Taylor seemingly injury-cursed, Haidara out on loan and Simpson gone, we're not that great in terms of cover.

This is what I didn't understand, he was ideal cover for Debuchy in particular. Of course he may not have been keen on that role.

Because nobody wants to pay for Gosling as he is ****e and usually injured.

We should have kept hold of Perch as a utility man. Great as cover option for various positions, so ideal for the subs bench (and would have made up part of our Homegrown quota too). But to be fair, if he wants first team action week in week out, then fair enough to him for moving on.

That's three times I've seen this mentioned, but nothing on either NUFC website that I can see. Where has he gone to? Last report I saw he was training at the club getting back from injury.
