Certainly a possible outcome but Suarez left Ajax for no CL football, worth noting regardless of his current stance.
I think: 1. players wants a gravy train.. LFC should move on. 2. players who want easy ride on shirt tails of others, LFC should move on. 3. Players who want a stepping stone, LFc should buy only at bargain rates 4. Players who want to win things. LFC should break their backs to get them. In short.... downing fits category 2. I thought suarez fitted category 4 but it seems 4th is enough for him... Until he says no to arsenal at any rate... so he's looking to be a no 3. which is eriksen... He seems to have the medals in his pocket form ajax and wanting something more. ... so what is wrong with him... is he not quite as good as people say, is everyone thinking he's going to be a free soon.... or is he out for an easy ride (like rooney in a whorehouse)
I suspect it's this. No doubt that he was once a top class prospect but he hasn't progressed as much as people would have expected. Can go missing in games and is inconsistent. I do feel that he needs to move on in order to reignite his career and push onto the next level. He's also rejected moves and has been quoted saying that he won't move for money, which would imply that his head is in the right place.
Some very interesting comments by Pepe Reina this morning. He says that he would only leave (or consider leaving) LFC if Barca came in, and that he wasn't interested in moving to Napoli. He was happy staying at LFC, fighting for his place and extending his contract.
It wouldn't surprise me. Part of me thinks we're destined not to sign a striker... Again.... Ever! Good point Sisu.
We just wanted to move on, Mig is now our future GK and couldn't sustain both of them so not surprised Reina didn't want to leave unless Barca came in but as a club are we supposed to just accept that and wait until Barca are ready to take our man away? Wonder what Napoli think of these comments
I'm glad pepe has said it... its truthful. also. minger, yeah he's good and yeah no player is indispensable but frankly... world class keeper coming into his prime... pushed out the door for wage reduction is the reality. no matter that gloss is tried to be put on this it's just turd polishing.... we bought his replacement thinking he would go then he's not going when it would be convenient so we push him out the door... yet i get pillioried for daring to suggest barca will get him cheap as a result. This one is a bad day at the office no matter how you spin it. Again... buy mingolet if you like, loan him out, do whatever but i fail to see how you move on mingolet when no other club was immediately in.... I can see if you truly believe he's the next great player.. fine but you are 9mil down with now little chance of recouping.
Can't really blame LFC/Rodgers for bringing Mignolet. We were all expecting a bid to come in for Reina so we were proactive in signing a replacement.
Yes but we can't afford him to do that, we only god Mig because Reina was making eyes at Barca and they at the last minute pulled out and kept valdes. Reina only has himself to blame
Assaidi looks to be on his way out - he has a number of suitors and rumours are going around that he will have a medical at some point this week.
I'm guessing it's harder to replace a 30 goal striker at the peak of his game, then a 30+ GK who is in potential decline?
I hate all this talk of replacement, I really hope even if Suarez stays that we buy some more attacking options for the team, not just a half arsed replacement for suarez. Just look at how strong spurs will be next season, does Rodgers really believe our squad can get 4th? and if not, then why isn't he doing more about it
He must be an already player then. When I have seen him I have though 'this guy would be awesome at a club like Wigan'. But not LFC.
Harder or easier, we have acted differently for the two cases in hand. Or do you think everyone at Liverpool genuinely thought Luis wouldn't want to go anywhere else? Maybe Aspas IS the replacement
As we saw with Mkhityrian, we have top class targets in mind but we're struggling to attract them. It's a lot less difficult to attract Mignolet from Sunderland
