So you don't think we will play 4-3-3 then? I imagine us to have a front 6 of: Dembele - Sandro -Paulinho Chadli/Lennon - Soldado -Di Maria And other players in the squad just rotated around those positions.
Ones that want to sign for us would be good!, not as part of some shifty deal, particularly in Di Maria's case who has to basically swap with his successor...nice!
They would both be swapping with their successor. The only thing of interest would be whether Di Maria is happy to come. He can't be offered as part of a swap unless he is on board, so if an actual bid materialises (or has materialised) then you would assume he's been consulted. No point agreeing a deal that is impossible to deliver?
Players have been offered in other deals before and then turned it down scuppering the deal, i'm sure. I don't see why Di Maria would be different. Even if he is on board with the idea at the moment he hasn't seen our contract offer yet
Agreed. Bottom line is we don't know if this is real smile or bullshit. Madrid would be stupid to negotiate a deal without finding out if it's even possible - undergo a mauling from Levy and then have to say they can't uphold their end anyway. Contract terms with the 2 players we would take would be part of the negotiation. Their agents would be at the negotiating table, surely. Anyway, I guess we wait to find out if it's all Media bollocks before we dissect the the deal.
which suggests its not real then surely? The media were all over Baldini meeting the Valencia guy a week or so ago, pictures etc etc. Yet THE most high profile "transfer" in the world at the moment and they can't muster one single agent meeting with a single member of the opposite party. If this deal is true then there are 2 agents that need to discuss with Spurs and Bale's agent who needs to discuss with Real. So far not one single bit of evidence of any such meetings. Yes, they could do it by phone, but if that was the case why was Baldy meeting in person? Because it works better. I cannot see a deal that complicated being done by phone.
Well I know for sure that Dembele and sandro are unable to make those defence splitting passes, or provide much creativity against a team that are sitting back. Can Paulinho? if he can, then we have 1 person. if he's not... then we are going to have an even bigger problem than last year IF bale goes. Hudd is bound to be sold and Carroll isn't ready to be relied upon yet. You can't sell world class players like VDV, Modric and possible Bale, and not replace them with other players who have similar attributes. It's a recipe for disaster. - we were all saying it last season when we had infuriating games with no spark, it'll only get worse unless we address the issue.
who signed for £36m and is probably earning a fortune. LOL the media have already found our replacement. It's comical. Edit: I take that back. - if Wiki is right, he's earning about £70k p/w. C'est Possible.
A midfield of Sandro/Paulinho/Pastore behind Di Maria/Soldado/Lennon with Carroll/Dembele/Holtby and Chadli/Adebayor/Defoe/Siggurdsson/Townsend in reserve wouldn't be too shabby....
agreed PS. But it proves my point. We'd need the likes of a "Di Maria" and a "Pastore" in there, otherwise it's not actually that convincing. It's just midfield numbers. Don't get me wrong, we need numbers, but each player needs to have unique characteristics, in order to be versatile enough to change a game when we're struggling. Paulihno is a great addition as he's box to box, which is something we don't have. But if we sell Bale and hope Sig or Holtby will step up, we could be in trouble. Sig struggled for a lot of last season, and whilst he's massively improved, he's not going to give us what we're missing. I'm sure he'll be useful in other ways as he's now proving to be, but he's not cutting edge. Same goes for holtby, who didn't massively impress. If you lose GB, you have to replace efficiently. Relying on those two for example, would be a risky move.
No! My neck is out now, its stuck there I just can't believe people are still considering it. I just feel that the sale of Bale will be the beginning of the end for this particular Spurs team. There would be no reason for "champions league quality" players to join or stay at Spurs. No superstar player, crap wages, small stadium, no CL. We'd be back to signing youngsters like Lennon/Hudd/Bale (admittedly they all worked pretty well but a LOT didn't) rather than the Paulinhos/Verts/Lloris' of the world.
Bale wants to speak to Real Madrid about going there. As far as I know, Madrid isn't famous for its flower show. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23490932
I don't think we should sell him but he is only one player and I really doubt that we would be weaker if we had Coentrao, Pastore ad Di Maria instead.
