I hope that Sessegnon stays for atleast another season in order that we can see what he is able to offer under an attack minded manager. If he excels, we could be talking about asking £20+ million for him next year instead of a disrepectful £6 million this season. If he fails to shine this season then I'm fairly certain we could still sell Sessegnon for £5 million next season. Keep him, the potential of brilliance for the upcoming season outweighs the benefits of a sale.
He'll be 30 next summer mate, ain't any prospect of a fee like that! Even if he got 15 & 10 assists, we'd see around £10million for a 30 year old, max. Selling him for £6million is a pointless folly, what is £6million to a building club, we can't buy a player with a tenth of his talent for that.
Yes I agree that his age has the potential to limit his resale value however an exceptional season will always bring the Man C and Chelseas of the world coming in with inflated offers. I'm confident that an excellent season could still see Sessegnon leave for £15 million next season. Meanwhile, we will reap the rewards of an exceptional season. Let's face it, Sessegnon ain't going to be a bad player for us... so unless he wants away we should keep him. I trust PDC to make the right decision!
Sessegnon scored the first against the mags and created the third by making the £25 million tiote look like a potatoe. I don't see any reason to sell. In Paolo we trust.
STEPHANE SESSEGNON wants to stay at Sunderland and be part of the Paolo Di Canio revolution. Sunderland have been willing to part company with Sessegnon this summer, despite the Benin international only penning a new contract at the Stadium of Light last August. It is the second successive summer where Sessegnonâs Sunderland future has been in doubt, with the speculation affecting the 29-year-oldâs form during the opening few months of last season. But Sessegnon, who started Saturdayâs Barclays Asia Trophy final defeat to Manchester City, is enjoying life under Paolo Di Canio and insists he is fully focused on the Black Cats. Sessegnon told the Echo: âThe speculation is okay, I have no problem with that. But Iâm happy at Sunderland. Weâve worked well in pre-season and hopefully we can continue like this. âIâm enjoying it at Sunderland and my mind is for Sunderland now.â Sessegnonâs form last season wasnât helped by his lack of pre-season action either after he failed to feature in any of Sunderlandâs friendlies under Martin OâNeill. But the former Paris St-Germain forward has started all four of Sunderlandâs pre-season encounters so far and is encouraged by the clubâs preparations for the Premier League campaign. âItâs a very important time, you need to have a pre-season,â he said. âYou need to do the hard work to start the season well. âI think that affected me during the first few months of last season. But this year is different because weâve had a good pre-season, with a lot of good players coming. âThatâs made everyone work hard in training and weâve got a strong mentality too among the players. âIt looks good already for the start of the season.â Sunderland suffered their first pre-season defeat on Saturday after Edin Dzekoâs ninth minute opener proved sufficient for City in dreadful conditions in the Hong Kong Stadium. Sessegnon added: âItâs always difficult when you play against a team like Man City, but then everyone could see the pitch too. âI know itâs the same for the two teams, but we gave everything. âUnfortunately, there was no chance for the team to win. âWe didnât create many chances, but City played well. They were compact and they defended together. It was difficult for us. âPre-season has been hard, but itâs good. âWeâve played four games, won three and lost one. âLetâs hope it continues like that because we have 19 days or so until the season starts. âIf we continue to work well, weâll be ready to start the season strongly.â
Think we all knew he wanted to stay but clarification is nice. Let's just hope nobody comes in with a silly offer we can't refuse because I want him to end his Career with us.
Good news if true mate he has looked good in the friendlies and in general under PDC. In other news the lads landed about an hour ago at Ponteland Aerodrome.
