I guess I'm in the minority who'd happily take him.

Frankly, I don't give a **** what kind of person he is. I'm willing to bet that I'd probably not get on with a lot of the Bristol City players on a personal level, and I'm willing to bet the academy is fairly full of self-entitled, spoiled kids. Also, I'm willing to bet that far worse has set foot into Ashton Gate before.

If Nile Ranger is sorry about what he has done, and has served his time, then I'm more than happy to have him sign for us if he thinks he can keep the quality up. I remember posting on the old 606 about whether Marlon King would be a good signing for us, and most people laughed it off and said that no one would sign him. Low and behold, he signed for Coventry, was great, and is now at Birmingham, and is still banging them in.

I'd be more than happy for SOD to offer him a trial, and to throw him in with some of the academy games, or a friendly or two just to get his fitness back. From there, if he's got the same level of quality he showed for Newcastle then he'd probably be the perfect replacement for Steven Davies.

No one is going to offer him a contract of any sort until the result of the court case is known.

He has a list of offences, (some unproved as yet I'll grant you), as long as your arm.

A one-off mistake or misdemeanour is one thing but this idiot is a repeat offender and troublemaker who obviously has no clue how to conduct himself.

The fact is that he was probably on £20-£30k a week at Newcastle and anyone stupid enough not to realise that he can do something he loves for 10-15 years and then never have to do a days work again in his life at the end of his football career just by keeping his nose clean in the meantime wants his head examined in my opinion.

Stupid Boy as Captain Mainwaring would have said.

Absolutely not, but if I remember correctly we can still sign people on a free in October. Last season we played a ton of friendly games during the season, so I'd be more than happy for Ranger to get a trial here and to take part in some way.

Again, I couldn't give even the slightest **** about his past. Any club with sense would put a behaviour clause into his contract that makes his contract void and the player liable for damages if he is caught doing something stupid.

People said the same things about Ravel Morrison, who I'd argue was in way worse than Ranger, given his history with gangs and being charged for witness intimidation. He tore the Championship apart with Birmingham last season and I reckon that if he can stop being a dick he'd be a future England player. Ranger isn't anywhere near that talented, but he'd do a good job in League 1, and if we get a season or half a season out of him then that's fine for me.

Yeah he might learn from his mistakes, if it was just the assaults but this one is what concerns me, if guilty could I cheer a man charged with this!

On 25 January 2013, Ranger was arrested on suspicion of rape in a Newcastle hotel room.[23] In connection with the same alleged offence, Ranger was charged with rape on 8 July 2013.[24]
