Have United even bought anyone yet? Does anyone want to play for them now Fergie has gone? I'm starting to believe they could have serious problems next season.
No signings yet i don't think, they seem to have missed out on there main targets that we know about but im sure they haveothers things on the go. I think with Ferguson gone though and the premier league looking quite open and unpredictable for this comming year players are maybe more wary about going there as silverware isnt maybe asguaranteedas it seemed in the past. Players wanting to play at Utd are maybe considering leaving it a season to see how things go post-SAF.
So Utd only ever attracted players cause of SAF? Arguably the most famous club in football and suddenly they are not an attractive option cause one man has gone? Unbelievable.
Many fans and probably a lot of players would have attributed much of United's recent success to Ferguson. You're probably familiar with how United's players are consistently underrated for whatever reason. Whether they're right or not, losing Ferguson will make a lot of people pessimistic about United's chances next season. The team also needs strengthening quite a bit with Scholes gone, Giggs soon to be, Evra way past his best, and Ferdinand playing fewer and fewer games.

So Moyes is a drunk now? Also since when does personal life's of 1-2 players play a factor in attracting new players? Bit of pot calling the kettle black lad as your team if you sign Suarez will become a great proposition....not!
Utd are a less attractive proposition now that Fergie has gone and I do think they will find it harder to attract the best players to the club. It used to be the case that if Utd were interested, then they were as good as signed. Not any more. If you ask the best players why they chose a club, they will often tell you it's because they want to play for and work with the manager, be it Fergie, Wenger, Guadiola etc. We've already seen Thiago and Cesc snub Utd, this could be a sign of things to come.
I am not doubting in recent years SAF was a strong reason for some players looking to sign for Utd and that some foreign players may now say David who? However anyone thinking that no player wouldn't be flattered at playing at Old Trafford for Man Utd are simply deluding themselves. If SAF was the sole reason Man Utd attracted players why did Utd lose out on the following over the years: Eden Hazard, Lucas Moura, Wesley Sneijder, Gareth Bale, Patrick Kluivert, Mikel John Obi, David Hirst, Alan Shearer, Aaron Ramsey, Ronaldinho, Arjen Robben, Paul Gascoigne, Kaka, etc Thiago was more than likely always bound to end up at Bayern not because of the attraction of the German club but because of the close relationship that already existed between himself and the coach. Cesc is different. I personally would be surprised to see him return to the UK as he has sought very hard to get to Spain and it be strange to see him leave so quickly.
Well I think Manchester United fans are going to have to adjust a little to life without SAF. This is going to be a difficult transition. There is no doubt that winning was something SAF brought to United, without him, there is no logical reason why United should win. If United don't start well, they could drop off a cliff. They have a huge job of rebuilding to do, and I am not sure that they have the money to buy the very large number of players they need to replace. I am not sure that if I were a player, that I would be entirely sold on going there until I saw whether Moyes was capable. My view is that it is the manager, money and players that attract a player to a club. United have decent money (although not spectacular in the current climate), but right now they have an aging and less than impressive squad, and an experienced but winless manager.
There is no logical reason any team should win let alone Utd. Yes it will be a strange and at times hard season for Utd fans. That's a given. However I do believe some rival fans are desperate in their claims that Utd will as you say 'drop of a cliff.' You also claim that Utd have an aging and less than impressive squad. Average age is 25.9 while Arsenal's is 26 I understand Hardly ancient and I'd be surprised if 1-2 additions are still not made. This is the squad which lost the league in stoppage time in 2012 and are the current champions. SAF was a huge influence no doubt, but don't underestimate the players Utd have.
The point is that a few massively important and influential players have either retired or are close to retiring, thinking of leaving, wracked by injury, or way past their best. Scholes gone, Giggs on his last legs, Ferdinand playing fewer games than ever, Evra past his best and might be leaving. These are highly influential players. So it's not just that Sir Beetroot has left.
Evra hasn't been at his best for about 2 seasons. Rio despite his age and injuries played fairly well last season and I expect more this time around. Giggs while a legend and an incredible athletic to keep on playing, his role like Scholes last season has been limited. I'd find it incredible that any rival fans truly believe that Utd over last 2 seasons needed Scholes and Giggs to challenge at the very top? Yes Important players in the squad at even the end but remember their role has been ever increasingly declining over last few seasons. I do however accept utd need at least 2 midfielders. That is Moyes challenge at the moment and one which hopefully will be addressed in the next few weeks. We shall see.
This year is a very interesting one in that conventional wisdom is that players never age, never lose their prowess. It is always anticipated that they will be as good as the year before, and a team's chances are judged based on the preceding few years. Thus good performances by clubs with improving players are always a surprise. This year all the top 3, but City and United in particular, have a number of key players aging. Arsenal have a large number of players that they are hoping (not entirely unreasonably) will get better. Now conventional wisdom will say that Arsenal are deluded and the big 3 will reign supreme. I don't think that it is outrageous to suggest that the top 3 are getting worse and that Arsenal are getting better. When that happens at the same time, it doesn't take much to make up a gap, just like in a car race. I said in another thread that if Arsenal had beaten City at the Emirates, we would have finished second. And I still say that if Mike Dean was not a ref, we would have won a cup last year. The gap is really not that large.
