Got to question your thinking here, djsowtz. It would appear that the name is pretty much decided, so no need for a protracted and expensive think-tank on that one! Any marketing materials would be ones that would be issued regardless of the name, so at the worst we are talking about some small elements of artwork change and their associated costs (they seem to be complete). Old merchandise will be sold in the usual end-of-line manner, with, perhaps the enhancement of it being the end of an era and collectable for whatever reasons. There will be some change to web-sites - not a ball-breaker, either. Other than that life and costs will be routine. All-in-all I would say that the costs are minimal and not worthy of being counted as a reason against making the change. Unfortunately, as it supports pro-change, I must also question your argument (elsewhere) that re-branding is something that is done for a struggling brand, rather than a football club who has just enjoyed success and promotion to the top flight; surely you can see that this is the point where we can use that success to make a branding statement as there will be a great many new eyes upon us in the next 10 months - I don't personally believe it is necessary or palatable, but I can certainly understand how a marketing professional could sensibly argue the point.
you cannot derive an 'ought' from an 'is' - David Hume Assam Allam being a successful marine engineering business owner does not prove that he ought to be a successful football club owner.
Nobody has. Not our current owner, not our potential new owner, not our managing director, not anyone on any Hull City message board, not a single ****er anywhere. When is someone going to make a case to back up what's going on?
That's what I was thinking. Papa has saved the club but that didn't satisfy his thirst to leave a legacy. He wanted to change the name, too.
You reap what you sow. If someone repeatedly gives an opinion on business practice, it's not unreasonable to justify that opinion with details of their experience and area of expertise. It's very obvious that Tyger has no such experience and as he continues to post ill-informed snide remarks, it's perfectly fair for him to be pulled up on it.
Take this which ever way you like but I have it from a very good source that Mrs. Allam Jnr is soon to be the owner of North Ferriby United and that they will ground share with us, with Church Rd being sold for housing. Whether the ground will be the KC or a new stadium in Melton I have yet to find out.
....and while the Allams are building a new stadium at Melton the posters on here continue to build a mountain out of a molehill.
His 'business' has been undermined by his dodgy kiddy-fiddling 'salesmen' even if his core product is the still best on the market.
I don't have a 'better' one. In fact I don't have one at all but, if I did, it might be Buddhism. It still doesn't alter the fact that your claim is a value judgement.* *World English Dictionary value judgment — n a subjective assessment based on one's own code of values or that of one's class http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/value judgment
