Not as simple as that. Even if he does leave, we aren't in the CL so we will still struggle, not to mention there's hardly anyone left to sign that's worth signing. It's going to be the same with anyone we're interested in, what ever position they play. - they'll all know we've got a **** load of cash, and we'll pay through the roof. I'm keen on him, but not at that price. He's 29 in December! It just shows how Levy's stance may well have been too strong in the past. We literally don't have a choice but to pay this sort of money now. I bet if levy looks back now he's wishing he'd forked out the 25mill on someone younger 2 years ago. - what could have been eh? I hear you lot are keen on Eriksen. That will be a class signing if it happens. How no one else has snapped him up yet, I don't know. 1 year left and £15m, for arguably one of the best up and coming youngsters in Europe? It's beyond me. So, what about strikers? What's the general consensus amongst Liverpool fans?
I personally think Kolo will be a massive asset to the club this season, his experience, his vocal organisation, his winning mentality, and pure brut force is what we need. Our young players will learn so much from him - that alone is worth having him at our club (even if it's purely on the training field and in the dressing room). Time will tell but imo he's still a quality CB
As you say there are not many left on the market, unless a secret gem is spotted. But to be honest we've made some good offensive additions so far - Sturridge and Coutinho have been a revelation, and we've also added a couple more. So even if Suarez goes we're not in bad shape, see how things go and we can always make some more additions in January if need be.
How have we not bid for Eriksen yet?? Staggering to think we'd get a player of his quality for less than we forked out on Carroll, or Downing, or Henderson. What's stopping us putting a bid in?
Unfortunately, Sir Rodgers disagrees with us all. There's a reason Hendo struggles to make the team despite some great performances
Agreed. Rogers has def got the best out of sturridge and coutinho looks like an amazing bit of business. It's true though, the market is difficult now. Not only are strikers costing a fortune, but the big problem now is that so many have already moved in this window. Finding someone will be very tough. Swansea and Norwich have done very well in securing bony and van wolfswinkel IMO. It may come down to finding a potential gem like those two, as u say. Eriksen would be a massive improvement though. He's a different class.
But if BR truly believes that then why did he bid for Henri Ryan? us not going for Eriksen, ie a cut above what we have now, will be the difference between 6/7th and 4th/5th. Allen will not be the difference this season. We need players that make the difference
I think we would be better off trying to keep Suarez for an year, if possible, and seeing how things are next summer in regards to available strikers. It's obviously a risk because he might sulk and not play well but its better than wasting money on someone that isn't worth it and is just a panic buy. Maybe the best option for us right now would be to try and loan a striker from one of the rich clubs that have loads of strikers like Dzeko or someone.
My thoughts exactly, I find it ridiculous that we haven't made any attempt to get him. Especially when the player himself would be interested He's a top talent and heaps better than all the midfield options we have right now, bar Coutinho. BR should realize by now that Allen is pretty ****ing average and made a massive blunder shelling out 15million on him. Write him off and bring in Eriksen.
It has gone very quiet on eriksen this last week. Maybe something has been agreed but won't be announced til we are back in England this week. We can but hope !
i said we'd do nothing on trip..... i'd not be surprised to see a little flurry of activity when we are back... equally would not be surprised by no signings til suarez is sold.
