odds for that are somewhat less, 7/2 is the best I've seen mostly it's 0/30 or 3-1 even 5/2. The whole point is to give the players something to fight for. SL would have to stake £1M or there abouts just on us getting promotion that is a large chunk of cash to put up in front where as 300K would look more like chicken feed to someone like SL not to us of course unless you know one of the big Lotto winners. of course
Seems somewhat unlikely this one as Martin Jol seems to rate this guy wouldn't sell him when he had a (apparently) good offer prefered to send him on loan instead.
It depends if we get a striker on a free no problem if we have to buy someone might restrict us in paying compensation due to SCMP
The way I understood SCMP we could pay whatever in transfer fees but can only have wages that are 60% of turnover. Although Davies going adds 300k to the wage budget as fees for players sold 60% gets added to your alloted budget? So we can pay q decent fee for a player providing the wages are affordable?
Thats true as far as it goes the problem is there is no mention anywhere of Bonus payments for Wins, Goals, promotion, appearences etc so what is not known is what players have written into their contracts so any money that comes in could be eaten up that way, Sean seemed to think there might be a problem with compensation, now that might be straight forward and treated like a transfer fee or because there is no mention of compensation in the SCMP it could come under that which would be a spanner in the works I wish the Football League would publish some clear guidelines so that every one could see what was going on it's not exactly a state secret just let people know what the state of play is, if the clubs do not get told anymore than the FL give on their website then the whole thing is a catastrophy waiting to happen to more than one club I'm thinking.
