Excellent. He can join David Villa in the "It's all done and dusted and will be announced soon" category. I wonder, in reality, how often transfers are somehow all tied up and yet not announced for a day or two?
http://m.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/jul/27/gareth-bale-real-madrid-tottenham-hotspur no player is worth that amount of money. 86.3million? ****ing hell take it. You could get 4 superb players for that. For all the good bale is he hasn't gotten you CL footie, but 86 million could easily.
He has got us CL footy and on another occasion helped us to 4th place only for the Gods to piss on us.
Please read the last 3 pages to understand why he IS worth more than £86m to us. And no we couldn't get 4 players because of wages. We could probably get 2 for £25m each then the rest be spent on their wages.
Not a single quote to back up their claims Also don't go along with the theory that 86 mill would guarantee us Champions League. We're unlikely to be able to attract the world's best players (many of whom have already moved this window), especially without the attraction of playing alongside Bale. Also clubs will know that we have huge sums of money to spend, so will be trying to fleece us. Having said that I don't think we're necessarily weaker without Bale. We were overly reliant on him last season, I think if we replaced Bale with a top striker we'd be a more balanced team which would be capable of winning without one individual player needing to be on form.
Agree with this entirely. At times last season Bale was incredibly frustrating. The game against West Ham where he scored "that goal" he was absolutely awful, running into blind alleys, couldnt hit a cross, kept shooting miles high / wide and kept losing the ball / not tracking back. Then out of nowhere BAM one of the best goals you'll ever see. For that reason he is priceless and absolutely key to us progressing as a club. But I also feel IF we sold him (I don't want us to) then we could get 2-3 more consistent players in terms of keeping our play flowing, making the right decisions always (like modric) and we would be fine. I'm not saying we'd be stronger, but I don't think we'd be much weaker we just wouldnt have that spark of genius. In short :- I think our results with or without Bale (assuming we spent the money we got for him wisely) would be fairly similar; but as a club we will grow a lot faster with Bale due to his reputation and the fact people would take an interest in our club simply because he is there (which of course = £££££ which = more to spend on improving team, stadium, staff).
Everyone on twitter seems to be saying spurs have agreed a fee for Soldado: @AddictedtoSpurs Cadena Ser reporting Soldado is now a Tottenham player after Baldini tied up the deal worth â¬30 million. #THFC @bghayward Still at Mestalla. Been told Soldado will join Tottenham for â¬30m. Deal tied up after Liverpool interest emerged. Postiga could replace him @newsthfc1 As I was already told this morning, #Tottenham have agreed on a fee (â¬30m) for #Soldado (the transfer could be completed imminently) #COYS =>https://twitter.com/newsthfc1
Time for Bale to break his silence I think, if he really wants to go be man enough to say so, and tell the supporters, if he is going to stay equally tell the press, do an interview someone would surely report it and put the rumours to bed once and for all. Is it really that difficult to get the press to report the truth? Once this is done the club can move on if he really wants out sell him now and give yourself time to make the signings you need to "replace" him
Entirely agree, this is getting ridiculous now. It is time for Bale to speak up, I respect the fact that he has maybe felt that it wasn't appropriate, but I feel that this speculation will only intensify until the situation is made clear.
4 superb players for £86mill? That's not quite how it works and I'm not sure why people seem to think there is a value on top players. We've discussed this over snd over on our board and the general concensus is that we don't want him to be sold at any price. As for the article, we've been reading stories about Bale's intentions to leave and Real's interest since March/April. Unless it's an article quoting Bale saying he wants to leave or Levy/AVB saying we will sell him then I'm just not interested then there's really nothing new. Who knows, maybe this guys does have the inside track but the emotive writing in his articles suggest he's trying to compensate for lack of real info with shock value, like Marca.
I reckon there'll be an announcement on soldado today. As for bale, I'm actually starting to worry now. Avb doesn't look comfortable in interviews now, almost like he's having to tell porkie pies. 2 rumours I've seen: 1. - bale will be sold for 85m, but loaned back to us for the season - with real paying half his wages 2. - real have offered 60m + di Maria & coentrao Yet other sources are adamant he's going to sign a new deal and apparently he's looking at houses closer to hotspur way.
I know most of you won't agree to this but if Bale did leave this window and we brought in: Di Maria Coentrao Chadli Soldado Paulinho And came out with 10 million plus in the bank I would take that. If bale doesn't leave this summer he will next. As Tottenham Jamspurs has said, although Bale got us loads of points last season with wonder goals the balance of our team wasn't that good. With those 5 players above and the return of Kaboul and Sandro we would have a hell of a team next year even without Bale. Also I think those signings show enough intent to the other players rather than them being demoralised Bale is leaving and want out too. If I had a choice I would keep Bale every time but I'm just saying the alternative may not be too bad.
The issue though CJ, as a few people have said, is the wages. Coentrao and di Maria must be on over 100k a week. We can't pay this sort of money to mor and more of our players. Not only that, but YV (I think it was YV) is right. - EL football won't allow us to attract the sorts of player we need if we lose bale.
