Why will they understand that "Hull City Tigers" is the same as "Hull City" that they see on the football results and football pitch? Why not use "Hull City" everywhere (subject to national and international media shortening it to Hull)? I see you didn't attempt to answer my other questions.
Bullshit! It sounds very American or like a Speedway team. We shouldn't be sacrificing the clubs traditional name! With you Peter on this one. You don't see United changing their name to Manchester Devils do you??? Why should we???
Because you're asking questions that only the Allams can answer. Are you serious though? or trolling? You simply assume people are complete thickos or what? You think there will be mass confusion when people read Hull city on the tv but hear Hull city Tigers? I don't believe anyone has confused us up until now when they see HULL CITY on bbc sports results but then hear Alan Hansen call us HULL.
Congratulations on finally going to a game. And being able to afford tissues and ice cream. Things must be looking up.
Irrelevant, Manchester United are the most recognised football team in the world so no they wouldn't.
Pointless arguing about the commercial viability of a name change - the problem for me is that it reflects a state of mind that I am uncomfortable with, an overly 'commercial' business oriented way of looking at the world, it's why millions of Brazillians took to the streets, it's why tickets to matches are becoming out of reach for many, it's why many people are concerned about the creeping privatisation of the NHS & so on. It may make some kind of 'commercial' sense but not any kind of sense if - unlike Maggie - you happen to believe that there is such a thing as 'society'. This may sound a tad over the top re a poxy name change but it does actually matter I think. Everything starts just as an idea.'New labour' was just a name change...
So you are coming? and by the way not that I should have to justify my support to a grade A **** like you but I went to half the away games last season and 2 home games . I'm laughing at the thought of someone from Hull bragging about his wealth on an internet forum, considering the history of the city and its population, doesn't seem fitting. I thought Mr know it all, knew it all but clearly he has no idea. I had to edit some of it out because I won't stoop to your level would have been funny though mr "big bucks"
I'm sure Baroness Thatcher believed in 'society'. What she didn't buy into was ascribing so many ills and problems as being 'society's' fault. It is individuals and people who create crime and bad situations - not 'society'. "Society made me do it" could no longer be used as a pathetic excuse for criminals and their liberal apologists like Lord Longford. Happy to have cleared that up for you.
No, unfortunately, I'm in Portugal for the opener. But if you want to come over, I'll get you an ice cream.
Thank you, clearly we are each responsible for our actions but never the less our understanding of the world & the people in it (& thus a massive influence upon our actions) is constructed within the contexts in which we find ourselves. Check out Ken Loache's film "1945", different time different contexts different beliefs.Didnt construct the NHS & nationalise rail & power for 'commercial' reasons, quite the opposite in fact...
Only the Allams can answer why Hull Tigers was used? So you can't think of a logical reason? And only the Allams can say whether YOU like that name? Does that mean they are your mouthpiece? I am serious. People quite often see "Hull" on the TV. People are used to "Hull" and "Hull City" but not used to "Hull City Tigers" or "Hull Tigers". Not everybody exposed to these names will be Hull City fans. Many people will only have a passing interest in football or sport. The whole idea of branding is to keep things as simple and concise as possible but to get the message across. Right now we are known as "Hull City" or "Hull" but for some reason these so called "branding experts" want to add to the name which goes against all branding theory. They want to call us "Hull City Tigers" but that will be even more likely to be shortened which will dilute the brand even more. It's all very well only thinking from the point of view of a Hull City fan but when you are considering branding you need to have a wider perspective. You may think these people are being perceived as thick but it is actually disinterest. The brand should be trying to make it easy to harness their understanding. Very rarely will that be achieved by making the message longer. HULL CITY and HULL have been used for 109 years. We don't want to wait another 109 years to get to this level of brand awareness.
Whatever. The NHS is unsustainable and is no longer fit for purpose. A lot has changed since 1945. We how have a nation of lazy obese diabetics, self-obsessed airheads getting piss-flap surgery, Congolese AIDS 'health tourists' and an army of opportunist 'consultants' and 'specialists'. It can't go on.
I agree. It would be madness to change their name. In the coming season we may be in the top 20 of the most recognised football teams in England and Wales. Explain to me why changing our name from "Hull City" to "Hull City Tigers" wouldn't be madness?
Exactly! This is what you get in a commercially orientated world & why we should oppose changing our name.I'm only half joking...BTW is that the west stand you were describing?
Business. The actual team running around on the green stuff kicking a ball, that's a football activity, selling stuff is a commercial activity. Why do you keep asking silly questions? Do you actually believe there are plans to change the badge on the shirts? If you do, why do you think that? What's the point of all the other fluff you keep asking about? I'm assuming you don't support the commercial side of the organisation behind the mighty Tigers, so why the obsession with it?
I've paid my taxes. For what? Fatties, lazy ****s, scroungers, greedy con men and Africans to take the piss? I think not.
Selling sponsorship and advertising is a commercial activity. Selling tickets to a football match is a football activity. Suggesting otherwise is beyond weak.
