Just a few thoughts on this game! firstly Hibbs result certainly made Malmo look very good, and there will be no getting away from the fact that their fitness levels will be better than ours, also they are a team that can pass the ball, and it was used to great effect against Hibbs, though I'd be very surprised if the Hibbs manager keeps his job, after the worst ever aggregate score recorded by a Scottish club in Europe. Malmo have a good track record in Sweden's top league, and Europe, though most of what Malmo achieved happened in the 1970's, but still they are a team that clearly cannot be underestimated, and I'm sure that Laudrup will not be doing that, especially given the rivalry between Sweden and Denmark. As I've said before Malmo have experience in Europe, even in Champions League, so while they may not be a team that rolls of the tongue, they are a team that we must respect, and a game that has to be taken as if it were a Premier league game. If we can get early control of the game, and get into our passing, and possession, then I'm sure we can hurt Malmo early, and we need to take as much advantage of this home fixture as possible, as the very important second leg is at Malmo, with them having the home advantage and 12th man. Leon Britton has rightly given his cautious view on Malmo, and I'm sure we will have a dressing room focused on the job at hand, Laudrup has the experience in Europe, to see us over this first hurdle, but I'm sure it goes without saying that we need to make the Liberty a fortress once again, for our first ever European game in a very long time. Lets put the fear of god into Malmo!........ European night at the Liberty, Lets make it a sell out!
Probably the toughest draw we could have had. Not sure as the seeded team why we did not play away first? Looking forward to it.
Malmo will be a tough game but one that we are good enough to win, the fact Laudrup is our manager will actually fire up the Swedes a bit more IMO. I get the feeling they will play on the break at the Liberty and be difficult to break down, fitness will be key but we have the squad to use to full effect . Malmo is going to be a hard gaem, but its probably the best thing to happen to us ,seeing them smash Hibs will focus the minds and will take away any complacency, something which can be a problem for us sometimes. If you want to do well you have to beat good teams, if the swans really want this(and I think they do) then I think we will beat them in both games, anything below 100% effort and it could get messy

I dont underestimate anyone but we are a class above anything they have in their league and i fully expect us to win both games...
You'll have to be careful about this team. Danish, and swedish sides live by this, the ace up their sleeve. Them doing well at home and confident that if the chance is given to them they'll take it and show away the favourites. They've done it many times, against bigger teams, and they are like hounds so if they smell blood, it just gets even worse. They'll come out confident, go head to head. Hoping to force a stale and then a goal. And if they get that they will lucrate on the favourites disarray and their own thirst for a kings head.
Is that from Shakespeare? P.S. Should Viking_Jock be Viking_Jack? Only asking. I guess you could be half-Danish/half-Scottish.
Another literary genius, you'll have to chat with our resident poet laureate Ivor!.................... PS: When he's in a good mood though!................
