Higuain to Napoli looking a done deal. Real will surely need another attacker now. Bale or Suarez?? Also probably means that it really is Rooney or bust for us.
Suarez will be the easier target for them, since 'Pool seem to have made it clear that the player is for sale, but only at the right price, whereas Levy has told Real in no uncertain terms that Bale won't be for sale this season at any price. Not sure where that would leave Arsenal.
With Giroud?!?!? I think with Higuain gone and if Suarez went to Real, it would leave Chelsea and Arsenal to fight it out for Rooney (though United may of course not sell leaving us both looking elsewhere). However Rooney clearly would favour us and I'm not convinced Arsenal would pay the wages. I still think it would be hard for Spurs to turn down 60, 70, 80 million for Bale when the reinvestment in 3-4 top players could potential make you real challengers. Seems short sighted to me but I can see why you'd dig your heels in. Not a lot of point building around a player that may be there one year max and a bad injury could **** everything up.
I don't usually converse with banned wums but Levy has on many occasions said he will not sell only to melt when he see's the pound notes waved in front of his beady little eyes ala Berbatov & Modric. The man's an utter joke.
I don't generally converse with foul-mouthed wum-posters who should be banned (even from their own board), but I have to say that you appear to have an extremely negative view of our Mr Levy. You do realise that none of that money is his, don't you? And that when he writes a cheque to buy a player, it isn't a cheque drawn on his personal bank account. You do realise that, don't you?
You don't see it, though 100, because you are not looking at it like us Spurs fans. We're not interested in simply being a selling club, that's never been our way. When we've sold our top players, it's been because we've been forced to, never out of choice. This window, we've already bought a couple of quality signings in Paulinho and Chadli, and it's abundantly clear that Levy is, at long last, looking to spend decent money on getting in a proven striker. All of this is being done in order, not simply to go for a top 4 place, but to challenge for the title. And before you scoff, no, I don't believe we have a chance of winning it, but the fact is that we can only count on making top 4 if we, at the very least, attempt to compete for the title. Keeping Bale is essential to the plan that AVB undoubtedly has for us. Therefore, it makes absolutely no sense in our selling Bale. If he's the best player in the EPL, and if Lloris is the best goal-keeper in the world, then we only need 9 more players like those two to be world-beaters. Frankly, I love what Levy and AVB are trying to do with the club, and I am proud to call myself a Spurs fan.
Isn't that the same for all new signings, though? Do you think that Spurs fans would rather that we hadn't bought them?
Haven't heard me bigging our signings up. I'm not silly enough to do that until they've actually done something.
I won't be overly happy if we buy Rooney, put it that way. I think Jose has a little something up his sleeve...and not John Terry ;-)
AVB refuses to deny Real Madrid have made an offer for Bale http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/jul/27/villas-boas-real-madrid-gareth-bale
Villas-Boas then refused to confirm or deny if there had been any official offers. "I don't want to comment." That tells you every thing you need to know on the subject.
What does it tell you exactly then ? If there had been no offer, he could have simply said 'there have been no offers' In fact, the Sun are claiming that Bale has told the Spiv Levy that he wants out of spurs because he has broken promises to him about listening to offers if they didn't make the CL. Like Modric, the Spiv Levy seems to be making a habit out of lying to his players, only for them to agitate for a move and eventually be sold. Last time spiv levy did this the spuds missed out on millions with Modric. Perhaps this time he will have learned his lesson and will cash in on monkey boy now. Apparently this is what Bale had to say to the Spiv Levy:
That's the point I'm making, Ozzie. You've been hanging around with PESKIE and Robbie far too much. You want to hang out with some of the intellectual Chelsea boys, as that will help your mental development no end.
